Yes, we’ve had our mutts responsibly microchipped for many years. But they’re not “invisible” nor can they “be read and programmed from the remote cloud level”. That would be quite a leap from reality to Koo Koo Land, IMHO.
This is not rocket science at all, very basic stuff. Encoded info on a chip that can be read by a card reader type device, exactly as your pet chip. What is so “unbelievable “ or science fiction about that? It is passive information. Not talking about some chip that controls a person like a Borg or something- it’s just passive information just like the bar codes on boxes but embedded under the skin. No big deal.
