Only about 8% of the US GDP relies on trade. A huge percentage of that is trade with Mexico. Although the US could get along fine without Mexico, the reverse is not true. Trump knows when he has the winning hand and he’s not afraid to use it. (God! I LOVE that man!) On the other hand, he hasn’t beggared his opponents. He has made them a good deal and they know it.
Thank President Trump...w/o him Mexico would still be escorting them to our border.

Was he given a shot. Hell no, instead we got an Indian lobbyist as head of DHS and was given the power to make exemptions to the executive order. Notice I didn’t say ex-Indian lobbyist. It has crossed my mind the newest supreme court pick was selected because of her view on immigration and a forced vaccine exclusively.

Congress is responsible for making the laws that will keep us safe . Term limits are the only thing I can see that will make them work for us and not corporations that make money off of the Government teat.

The Japanese were an entirely different people. They were a homogeneous society that although were war like and brutal they also understood humility in defeat and realized the United States was a far more powerful nation, society and culture and it would be a wiser course to learn the way of democracy and free market capitalism.

FWIW, I work with— and even consider myself friends with— some Mexican nationals in corporate who would not disagree with your assessment. One of them even chuckles when I tell him that he’s more American than many native born Americans, knowing that I am talking about liberals.
