Two GOP Senators Test Positive For Covid-19, Potentially Jeopardizing Barrett Confirmation Vote
CNN ^ | October 3, 2020

Two Republican senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee announced Friday that they had tested positive for Covid-19, potentially jeopardizing the GOP's hopes of swiftly confirming Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court if they were both to remain unable to vote in the full Senate through the end of the month.

Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Thom Tillis of North Carolina announced they'd tested positive -- just days after attending a White House event where President Donald Trump nominated Barrett. Multiple attendees of that event, including Trump, have tested positive in the week since the ceremony, which featured many people not wearing masks and not observing social distancing protocols.

No, they tested positive, period

Testing positive with ZERO symptoms doesn't mean sh*t. Period. I am quite sure if I were being tested constantly like they are, I would have tested positive long ago in the last 7 months because I go out all the time and I mingle with people. I've probably contracted and developed znyo bodieslike 99% of the population do for most viruses.
In real life, I am happily getting on with my life as usual as healthy as ever.

Yes they get tested if they meet with the president but they can still get infected a minute after the test. The senate does not have a routine resting program.

Lindsey Graham said that they can be there virtually if not in person. Graham and McConnel were both at that Garden ceremony as was Mr. Barr.

They are not going to be let anywhere near the Senate building until they are medically cleared.

Fine. Zoom says,”Hello”
Worked for Comey when he gave his testimony. Can work for Sens Lee and Tillis too no?

The senate does not have a testing program. It doesn’t matter if the two senators have no symptoms because as long as they are positive they can spread this disease so they won’t be going anywhere.

As long as both Senators say they are asymptomatic and feeling great, they can do the hearings from home on Zoom.

Exactly. No reason to delay hearings, or even the vote. Personally, I thing Senators and Congressmen should stay in their state/district where their constituents can influence them rather than lobbyists and representatives from other states. We certainly have the technology. DC corrupts all politicians.

I think that is an excellent idea. They can turn the Capitol into a museum.

It’s the proper and decent thing to do.

Why did Comey testify remotely but Barr in person?

Not even close to the over two million rioters, looters, arsonists and “peaceful protesters “ who laid waste to our cities over the past 3 months is it?
If the BLM/ANTIFA terrorists can gather and cause mayhem with the blessings of Dem mayors and governors, why cant there be a ceremony for a US Supreme Court nominee?

Comey was in the US Senate which is controlled by the gentle GOP.
The rabid Dems control the house.
Big difference.

Under Senate rules, a member can vote by proxy as long as he has been informed on the matter for which he is voting and that he requested a proxy to vote for him. As long as he is in the hearing virtually, like the Hawaii senator was in a few hearings, he will be informed.

The heck with that. They can come in full hazmat suits and cast their votes, virus or not.
