When Reagan was shot in 1981 Al Haig was Secretary of State. Reagan was taken to the hospital and Haig, in an effort to be reassuring, appeared on TV from the White House and proclaimed, "I'm in control here."

Well, the libs went nuts like he was initiating a coup. He was just trying to reassure people that all was OK.
