Mississippi has become the first state to lift a mask mandate.
Gov. Tate Reeves announced the reversal at a news conference Wednesday, where he detailed a new executive order that also eased some social distancing restrictions on public gatherings. Masks are still required to be worn in schools and close contact businesses like salons and barbershops.
For the heavy hand of government to tell you that you must do something, then the underlying conditions should justify it. When we were at our peak and we were making those decisions, the numbers absolutely justified it, Reeves said. But because of the work and the effort of the people of Mississippi, were in a different spot now.

I was able to get my haircut at my barber shop without wearing a mask. That was a couple of weeks ago. And that’s down the mountain in a small town here in Mexifornia.

Yep - and in the week leading up to it, more and more mask-less folks were in convenience/grocery stores and many who had a mask on had nose and even mouth uncovered...Walmart stopped having “reminder folks” posted outside and Rouses stopped their “security” guard/free mask policy too.

Some local governments in Florida still have them in place.
It doesn’t matter. Mask, or no mask this virus is going where it wants to.

Mask have ALWAYS been a ‘false hope’. In fact, they’ve probably made things worse by giving people a false sense of security.
