The news tonight of our God-blessed President and lovely First Lady testing positive for COVID (by their own admission!) is distressing.
Let us draw strength, first, from these words of the warrior poet and King David:
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult. Selah
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved; God will help it when the morning dawns. And mindful of those words "He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways" and considering that this Second Day of October is, in the Western Church, the Feast of the Holy Guardian Angels let us pray:
"O faithful God, lover, protector, and preserver of mankind, Lord of hosts, before whom stand a thousand times a thousand, and ten times a hundred thousand which minister unto You, through whom were made all things, visible and invisible, the thrones and dominions: how dearly You love mankind, that You should set over them from childhood Your holy angels—those steadfast, humble, friendly, God-praising angels; those obedient, chaste, lovely, true, good spirits; those beautiful, gleaming, heavenly flames of fire; those mighty champions, the host of God, the holy watchers who encamp round about those who fear Your name!

Oh dear Lord, heal and protect our President, Donald Trump, our First Lady Melania, and all members of their family and staff who have been stricken by the coronavirus. Grant them speedy recovery, with no long-term effects or complications.
And enable our President to get back to the campaign later this month with vigor, and by your Almighty Power defeat the radical and communist enemy utterly and completely! Save our nation, O Lord, and save our world in peace. Bless also Judge Amy Coney Barrett, and enable her to speedily be approved as a Supreme Court Justice.
Do not allow our sins to defeat these aims, but hear our prayers and help us by Your Grace. In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN!!!!
