Stewart Rhodes was living his vision of the future. On television, American cities were burning, while on the internet, rumors warned that antifa bands were coming to terrorize the suburbs. Rhodes was driving around South Texas, getting ready for them. He answered his phone. “Let’s not f**k around,” he said. “We’ve descended into civil war.”
It was a Friday evening in June. Rhodes, 55, is a stocky man with a gray buzz cut, a wardrobe of tactical-casual attire, and a black eye patch. With him in his pickup were a pistol and a dusty black hat with the gold logo of the Oath Keepers, a militant group that has drawn in thousands of people from the military and law-enforcement communities.
Rhodes had been talking about civil war since he founded the Oath Keepers, in 2009. But now more people were listening. And whereas Rhodes had once cast himself as a revolutionary in waiting, he now saw his role as defending the president. He had put out a call for his followers to protect the country against what he was calling an “insurrection.” The unrest, he told me, was the latest attempt to undermine Donald Trump.
Over the summer, Rhodes’s warnings of conflict only grew louder. In August, when a teenager was charged with shooting and killing two people at protests over police brutality in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Rhodes called him “a Hero, a Patriot” on Twitter.

A militant group?
I don’t see Oath Keepers rioting, engaging in looting, arson or pulling people from their vehicles and beating them up.
I don’t see them blocking traffic, shooting people or throwing Molotov cocktails or other munitions.
So what’s the beef?
Is it that they support Trump?

They tried to tie Oath Keepers to white supremist tonight on PBS news hour. Then they went on to try and associate the same segment to the 2016 Trump win to white voters.
Shouldn’t anything published in the Atlantic just be disregarded at this point as being nothing more then a cheap knockoff of the Babylon Bee?
What a piece of trash journalism. Though he can’t find a thing to associate Oath Keepers with imaginary white nationalists, he tries his best to repeatedly tie them together, attempting to make all conservatives “white supremacists”. Everyone is a white nationalist if they don’t support the far left, even if they’re black.
Oh for God’s sake! Stewart Rhodes and Oathkeepers are one of the most credible organizations around. Ever notice that when the left wing commie thugs start burning the cities down all of a sudden patriot groups who never do anything violent get called out. Yeh. Like Trump said last night we have a left wing problem not a right wing problem.

Is that what happened? I don't think so. What I saw on video was an armed teen who was being pursued by rioters. Knowing that such attacks might end in his own death, the teen retreated as far as he could. When he fell, he was attacked by two people, one who hit him with a skateboard and another that approached with a handgun. The teen only "opened fire" to save his own life.
I think the video will have the healthy effect of discouraging attacks against people who are armed. The stakes are high.
I know someone in oath keepers. Ex military, first responder, and anything but a crazed white supremacist since he is non white.

Well, it’s The Atlantic so you can expect an essentially hysteric take on whatever they have decided to lie about. At least with this one you will have to wait a month before it doesn’t come true. Normally, they are shown off as fake news before the article’s ink is dry.
Oh, there will probably be violence but it won’t originate in these groups. It will come from “the Resistance” on the Left which, according to The Atlantic, doesn’t exist.

Who are they trying to paint as the bad guys? Oath keepers are aligned with law and order and the constitution. Most are vets or retired cops. They are well trained and well armed with many of them having been to war in the past.
They know what they are up to and took that oath to protect our nation against enemies foreign and domestic.
