So Portland Cops are Federal Deputies now?
Some Portland police and some state police. They were deputized after peaceful protesters attacked and set fire to the federal court house. The deputized officers could go into the federal building to arrest the peaceful protesters and charge them with federal crimes.
Some are, yes. Which means they can follow the Federal command, they can arrest for Federal offenses and they bypass the bent local DA and judicial system entirely.
Just the riot response officers, forgot the exact name of the unit. Basically the ones with the riot trucks/vans with the added running boards on the side so they can quickly get around the city and hop on and off at the various hot spots that need to get broken up.
Around 5 dozen that deal with protestors are. Sworn in Sat.(although I think more were sworn in a few weeks ago)

Deputy Federal marshals with full federal authorities.
That means terrorists and rioters will be charged for federal crimes see a federal judge and do federal time.

Update. 100 state troopers and Portland police were federally deputized prior to last weekends protests. Mayor Ted Wheeler whining he wants that undone but police say they are keeping that status until the end of the year.
