WASHINGTONSupreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett disclosed that President Trump had offered her the nomination just days after Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, a timeline that suggests the week of suspense before the pick was publicly revealed was largely for show.
Judge Barrett said in a questionnaire submitted to the Senate Judiciary Committee that on Saturday, Sept. 19one day after Justice Ginsburg diedshe received a phone call from White House counsel Pat Cipollone and White House chief of staff Mark Meadows to discuss the vacancy. She spoke to them again on Sunday, when they invited her to the White House, and President Trump called to confirm the invitation.
By Monday, Sept. 21, she was at the White House, where she had meetings with the three men, along with Vice President Mike Pence. Judge Barrett, 48 years old, a member of the Chicago-based Seventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals since 2017, said Mr. Trump offered her the nomination that day, subject to the vetting process, and she accepted.

She has been on Trumps Justice short list since he wrote it - WSJ is trying to turn it into a ‘bombshell’ that he picked her next? LOL
It’s getting ridiculous with these ‘news’ people.
Ok then why is the Senate waiting so long to move on this. We needed her yesterday.
“She has been on Trumps Justice short list since he wrote it”
Yes. For show? He explicitly said he tied the announcement to the mourning over RGB. WSJ are idiots and mostly never-Trumpers.
"Judge Barrett said in a questionnaire submitted to the Senate Judiciary Committee . . ."
So ?
“subject to the vetting process” explains why they waited to formally announce. Smarten up, WSJ.
The WSJ information is from a questionnaire she completed for the Judiciary Committee.

But how in the hell did they get ahold of it?
The delay was to show respect for the recently departed Justice Ginsberg. The ceremonies at the Supreme Court and Capitol had yet to be held. His announcement was immediately thereafter.
Swamp political theater, plus, it will impact the election...
The timing of the theater will impact the election, I meant.
A “timeline that suggests the week of suspense before the pick was publicly revealed was largely for show.” Why for “show”? Could it not have been out of respect for RBG? Why put a negative light on it?
We knew she was picked a year ago.
They called someone on the Judiciary Committee and asked for it.
U.S. Senators are owned by the same corporate bosses who manage the content for the WSJ.
We knew she was picked a year ago
I read a few years ago that she was Trumps favorite when Kavanaugh
was picked but he was told she needed more time on the bench. The story said Trump personally told her he would give her the next opening and that it might be Ginsberg. He kept his promise.
Actually, I think after he nominated Kavanaugh, President Trump said that she would get RBGs seat when the time came.
He does plan ahead.
Story was he saved her FOR the this seat.
And in other news; some paint dries slowly and some paint dries quickly.
Exactly. Had Trump announced before the funeral, he would have been eviscerated.
