If a Mafioso says to me : Build your business in the area I control and I won’t demand more money from you, did he GIVE me money, or did he tell me that he won’t take MORE of my money?

You tell me.......

You tell me what major successful business corporation doesn't take advantage of every tax break, every abatement and grant that the government makes available to them............

Talking from experience, virtually every major auto company or supplier such as mine has a training department whose head is responsible for searching out, applying for then implementing training programs that will be funded by the government............

RE: Talking from experience, virtually every major auto company or supplier such as mine has a training department whose head is responsible for searching out, applying for then implementing training programs that will be funded by the government............

*THAT* is what I question. WHY do they need to do that? Why can’t they train workers on their own without You and me having to pay them to do it? If they are training them with things like critical race theory and diversity, why should I pay for it?

But what is their MAJOR source of investment to start and maintain their business? Is it tax incentives, or is it GOVERNMENT ( read TAX MONEY ) MONEY Given to them?

Who is the investor? The Bank that receives interest from their business and gets PAID back, stock holders? Or government?

Do you approve of a business such as SOLYNDRA ( given Stimulus money to START their solar powered business ) or Fisker ( given stimulus money to build their electric cars in Delaware )? Both of them went bankrupt.

My question then is this — What are Elon Musks businesses? Are they like Solyndra or Fisker? or are they different?

No one should be forced to take a flu vaccine. Polio and small pox is a different story. Sorta like a rabies shot for dogs. 😁

Elon is the Donald Trump of off-world. Except he wants to run an entire planet (Mars) instead of a single nation.

Observing the goings-on in Boca Chica is like watching Doozers on meth. They are building the highway to Mars, and quickly.

They took advantage of a government offering and failed.....Just like you would have done if you would have had the knowledge to at least try to start up a company.

or Fisker ( given stimulus money to build their electric cars in Delaware )? Both of them went bankrupt.

Just like you would have done if you would been in their position.........

Your lame arguments are typical of a wannabe CEO sitting in front of his computer in pajamas.............

What are Elon Musks businesses? Are they like Solyndra or Fisker? or are they different?

Is that really a question or an admittance of ignorance? Elon Musk is still in business..........Sheesh!

RE: They took advantage of a government offering and failed.....Just like you would have done if you would have had the knowledge to at least try to start up a company.

And why should government EVEN be involved in using tax dollars to pay for a business like Solyndra? If the business were feasible, the markets, banks and investors would be flocking in to partner with the business.

Fisker is the same issue.

The Democrats have been arguing ( also in yesterday’s debate with Biden doing the same), that their green new deal will create exactly these kinds of companies. How many more Solyndras will that create?

So back to my question, yes, Tesla is still in business, but how much of this is as a result of mandates for green, electric cars, and how much tax payer dollars went into it?

Will Tesla pay back the tax payers through her profits with interest?

You’re in favor of such a business model running the American economy?

The government mandating this and that and then giving tax dollars to people to fulfill that mandate?

How different is this from the CCP subsidizing companies like Huawei?

For me, the answer that will satisfy is this — Tesla succeeds BECAUSE Musk saw a market need (NOT MANDATED BY GOVERNMENT POLUCIES) and is able to meet the need by convincing private investors to partner with him to start and operate the business. Anything else ratifies AOC’s green new deal idealism.

I have changed my opinion on Elon Musk a bit now. Now if he would only build a car that is inexpensive enough to not need government subsidies to make economical.

They all do, and everyone here knows it.
For some reason, quite a sizeable number of FReepers have a hard on for trashing Musk.
If one is against subsidies for electric cars, take it up with the government, not Musk.

Electric generation and distribution is a far greater issue than Musk taking government incentives.

True, given energy production seems to be heading to the wind farms and solar which can’t possibly supply the energy for an entire culture for any length of time.
