Chaotic first debate: Taunts overpower Trump, Biden visions

The first debate between President Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden deteriorated into bitter taunts and near chaos Tuesday night as Trump repeatedly interrupted his opponent with angry — and personal — jabs that sometimes overshadowed the sharply different visions each man has for a nation facing historic crises.

In the most tumultuous presidential debate in recent memory, Trump refused to condemn white supremacists who have supported him, telling one such group known as Proud Boys to “stand back, stand by.” There were also heated clashes over the president’s handling of the pandemic, the integrity of the election results, deeply personal attacks about Biden’s family and how the Supreme Court will shape the future of the nation’s health care.

But it was the belligerent tone that was persistent, somehow fitting for what has been an extraordinarily ugly campaign. The two men frequently talked over each other with Trump interrupting, nearly shouting, so often that Biden eventually snapped at him, “Will you shut up, man?”

The president drew a lecture from Wallace, who pleaded with both men to stop talking over each other. Biden tried to push back against Trump, sometimes looking right at the camera to directly address viewers rather than the president and snapping, “It’s hard to get a word in with this clown.”

The scattershot debate bounced from topic to topic, with Trump again refusing to embrace the science of climate change while Biden accused Trump of walking away from the American promise of equity for all and making a race-based appeal.

“This is a president who has used everything as a dog whistle to try to generate racist hatred, racist division,” Biden said.

Wired Joe told Dr. President Trump to shut up, to hush and called him a liar and a clown.

I'm sorry Ape Pee, who offered up the personal jabs?

President Trump is a professional builder. He knows how to plan, organize, lead and exercise care.

Joe Biden is a professional heckler. He knows how to heckle.

Which one makes a better President of The United States?

Close, but not quite, Ape Pee.

Dr. President Trump refused to tie the California wildfires to Climate Change.

Instead, he correctly tied them to demonicRAT forest "management" policies.

Why does it always seem to take multiple writers to create a hit piece on Trump?

There are any online polls that prove that Trump won the Debate. That fact will soon be reflected in presidential election polls with a massive migration of voters to Trump.

White supremacists are what they call anyone white defending themselves and their property and family.

Every sentence of this ‘article’ slants left. They publish Joe’s occasional wins but none of Donald’s. They excuse Biden’s boorish behavior, too.

With respect to Trump supposedly not condemning white supremacists, he said “sure” twice after Wallace asked the question.

The AP needs to go read the transcript.

Hollywood Stars Rip Debate Moderator Chris Wallace: ‘[bleep] You’ ‘Worst I’ve Ever Seen’

Hollywood stars ripped Fox News’ Chris Wallace for his role as the moderator of the first presidential debate on Tuesday, saying that the news anchor was too timid and lost control of the proceedings as President Donald Trump took control of the stage through sheer force of will.

Chris Wallace — who repeated that false Charlottesville “very fine people” hoax and erroneously referred to critical race theory as “racial sensitivity training”– had trouble maintaining even a semblance of order as President Donald Trump went on the offensive, dominating the show by aggressively interrupting and heckling Joe Biden.

Celebrities seemed frustrated that Wallace was unable to rein in President Trump, who took a steam-roller approach to the debate, dominating the proceedings through locomotive-size force.

Bette Midler tweeted that “Chris Wallace is a wuss.”

Actress Kerry Washington tweeted, “Is there an understudy who can step in and play the role of moderator?!”

Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus urged Wallace to “get control” over the debate.

The West Wing star Bradley Whitford joked that Wallace would “be a terrible substitute teacher.”

Scrubs star Zach Braff called Wallace the “worst.”

Seinfeld writer Larry Charles simply tweeted, “Wallace sucks.”

It’s pretty obvious that overnight polling shows the president having won the debate.

There is not a “Biden wins!” poll to be found.

If there were, it would be trumpeted from the mountain tops.

Nobody believes that the ASS Press is unbiased

Despite that, the AP doesn’t appear to think Biden won, that’s good

Everyone knows Trump is a fighter and can be very outspoken, and plenty of people like that/encourage that

The rest of the world got fantastic theater last night to ridicule the USA...the debate was boorish/juvenile/embarassing.

Wallace’s career is over. Perhaps the best thing for all of us. Fox should can his ass today.
