Miss Manners may have been offended, but Trump had the edge

Is there any way to change these Presidential debates to a written test? Predictably, the punditry spent most of their time hand-wringing over the lack of decorum. Makes you wonder if they have ever seen Trump before. If the talking heads could move beyond their offended sensibilities, they would see that there were some substantive exchanges.

Republicans think Trump did great, and Democrats think Biden did great – or, more accurately that Trump was awful. But, in this cacophony of a debate the only certain loser was China. Both candidates agree that China is a menace.

On balance, Trump had a better debate. Miss Manners might not approve, but Trump’s interrupting and forcefulness drove the agenda.

Biden did okay but had some poor moments. He fumbled a bit on some of his language. His practiced lines did not work as well as his campaign expected. The best example was his statement about Beau Biden’s service in Iraq. In most debates that would have been a powerful applause line. But Trump jumped in right away on Hunter Biden.

Biden provided the Trump campaign with several future openings. He clearly dodged the Supreme Court packing issue. Biden ducked the question as to why he has not challenged the governor of Oregon to tamp down on the riots in Portland. Biden promised $20 billion to Brazil for the Amazon rain forest — perhaps a noble cause, but hardly a mover for Americans, many of whom are out of work.

There are two narratives the media is pushing.

1) Trump is a bully. Biden is the victim. This doesn't look good for Biden because it makes him look weak.

2) Trump is a racist because Chris Wallace demanded he denounce the Proud Boys (who incidentally held an actual peaceful rally last weekend; so peaceful it barely rated coverage) and alleged violent 'White Supremacists' lurking in the shadows.

Biden told Trump to “shut up”, to “hush”, he called him a “clown” and a “liar”. Clearly, Trump rattled his cage.

It’s why President Trump is seen as winning the debate handedly by Telemundo. Latinos like an alpha male leader, not someone who hides behind their wife’s and Wallace’s skirts like slo’ joe.

I think that's half right.

I don't think Biden gave blacks any reason for enthusiasm.
I think Biden gave radical Left Bernie Bros reason to lose interest.
Mainstream Democrats probably liked Biden pretty well. But that's a given anyway. Appealing to mainstream Democrats isn't going to win the election for Joe. He's basically engaged in nailing down a percentage of his base. Not good for Joe.

Trump showed his anger, rightly so ( but may have cost him some women/suburban votes) at the man responsible for the coup against him and Flynn.
Trump himself said he was angry at republicans for not fighting harder to indict Obama’s people.

I can’t fault him for feeling those frustrations, but I’d have to call the debate a draw simply because Biden stood up for 90 minutes and got some sympathy votes.

President Trump may not have won over any White Suburban Moms.

But he sure impressed many Hispanic/Latinos and Blacks with this no-nonsense style.

Ready for Round 2!

I think the Next Debate should be Pay Per View live from Las Vegas and the FARADAY OCTAGON!

Let’s see Wallace referee that one.

PDJT never hits first. But he ALWAYS hits back, and in ways that are guaranteed to hurt.

So. You want decorum? Don’t hit first. Just tell the people what you’re good at. In biden’s case, crickets would ensue.

We should be able to maintain the Senate if we can make effective commercials out of Biden’s interest in packing the court.

I've said for years, American media is too corrupt for Presidential debates. The format needs to change to playing a recorded question. A candidate's mic turns on for a period of time. The opposing candidate has their shorter time with the mic on. The original candidate has the option for a quick response. Mics close. Next question is played.

Biden looked old and frail in appearance and came off as a helpless old man with Wallace being his protector all night long. We need an alpha male in the most powerful job in the world and Trump proved that last night handling both Biden and Wallace. He won’t win “style” points in some people’s eyes, but we have a country to save!

Who kept shouting at his opponent to shut up?
Answer: Biden.
Who maintained his cool after being called a clown by Biden?
Answer: Trump.
Trump was not the bully here. Biden was.

Nothing, absolutely nothing has changed peoples minds based on that free for all last night....nothing! The number one thing, that stood out for me, is that President Trump is a no nonsense fighter. That exemplified why is is a tough negotiator and the best person, going forward, to lead our country.

Yes, but it looks like Trump may have lost the radical 4th wave feminist white, single female vote. ;)

Biden exceeded expectations by not drooling and avoiding big gaffes. But he sure looked old, like a reanimated corpse in fact. In our turbulent world, a lot of people will not want to turn over the nuclear football to a codger.
