A study published today in the Journal of the American Medical Association Internal Medicine revealed that older persons are highly likely to be excluded from the majority of COVID-19 trials that seek to establish effective treatments, as well as find a preventive vaccine. This is despite the fact that older persons are overwhelmingly impacted by COVID-19. Globally persons 65 and older make up nine percent of the population, yet account for 30 - 40 percent of COVID-19 cases and 80 percent of COVID-19 deaths.
Researchers viewed how often all the COVID-19 clinical trials registered in https://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ from October 1, 2019 to June 1, 2020 did not include older people. This was determined by reviewing direct age-based exclusions or exclusions that preferentially affect older persons, such as the presence of other diseases, or requiring Internet or smart phones to participate. Their findings indicate that older adults are highly likely to be excluded from more than 50 percent of COVID-19 clinical trials and 100 percent of vaccine trials. Inclusion of older adults in clinical trials is critical to ensure equitable access to these treatments.

Old folks more likely to sicken and die from the vaccine. Pharma cooking the books like they did on Prozac and so many others.
Older people might need the money less and might be less inclined to participate in trials and act as human guinea pigs for a virus that can kill you. I received a request to participate and turned it down.
Without older people in the trial they don’t have much. So they need to up the ante and pay more.

And then we will get a statistic like 99.9% have no adverse reactions to the vaccine. If you don’t test the segment of the population who are most likely to take the vaccine, this will just give a false sense of safety. Every one wants to declare victory — republicans, democrats, drug companies.

I am one of those “older” people and just got my annual flu shot. I will however decline getting a COVID vaccine until it has been out for awhile and then maybe not then.
That’s pretty much par for the course last I knew. For just about everything.
Also, getting geezers to volunteer, especially really old geezers, can be very problematic.
I’m over 65, I signed up for the vaccine trials, I passed all the requirements and then the BS started. Older people like me have a low tolerance for inefficiency and lack of regard for my time.
I had an appointment three weeks out and arranged my travel schedule to accomodate it. Then three days before, someone called and said they didn’t need me because they had enough for my “group.” I told them to take me out of the study.
Then the day before my original appointment, someone called to confirm my appointment and had no idea anyone had told me I was not needed. We agreed on an appointment a week out, and I rearranged my travels.
The day before the second appointment I was told the location chosen for my appointment was not available, but I could have an appointment at a facility 50 miles away. I gave them a final NO on being in the study. I assumed that based on their lack of ability to schedule and follow through for a simple first in-person appointment, I was probably not safe in their study.
It’s much easier to find a cure for those who aren’t sick.
Just lock down everybody. Fauci = genius.
