She would have to have an Electoral vote in order to be eligible to be elected by the House. The only candidates that can be considered are those who have an Electoral vote.

I thought it was the Senate that decided
A president must be seated on 20 January
Senate Pres Pro Tempore Charles Grassley is President as 4th in line, with Pompeo as VP since Cabinet Officers remain in office unless replaced by a new Pres
Number 3 in line House Speaker Nancy is out of Congress on 3 Jan if her Reelection has not been certified. Here is where the GOP should plot its own mayhem. Same ballots as Trump.

"Then the 12the Amendment kicks in to involve the House. They must choose among the top 3 vote-receiving candidates. Not subs, not surprises, not compromises. Then each state delegation gets ONE vote to cast. So even though the extremists have more seats, leftists run up their numbers in population centers in big states, so no benefit to them." Worth repeating...

“Pelosi has done the math, and expects the new Congress to handle the presidential election if it comes to that.
Therefore, she has told Democrats to focus their resources on winning in states where Republicans only control a slim majority of seats.”
“While there are 435 representatives, there will only be 50 votes. And a current tally of representatives in each state shows that there are more Republican-majority delegations than Democrat-majority delegations. Republicans control 26 delegations; Democrats dominate 22; Pennsylvania is tied and Democrats have a 7-6 Michigan plurality.”

Is it a given that that House remains in the hands of the Dems? Why is everyone assuming it’s a foregone conclusion?
To: Michael.SF.
It would be the NEWLY ELECTED House. It is possible Pelosi won’t even be Speaker.

Got her a tweet:
Ummmm - Ms. Botox, in other contests, for the “championship”, a tie goes to the current champion - the contender doesn’t usurp what was a definitive win....

I do believe that this was discussed a couple of weeks ago. From what I read, they would have to peel off some GOP reps because they have more reps but GOP comes out ahead in States.
I also remember this same conversation during both Bush elections. The key will be winning so many states that even cheating would not make a difference.

Shes hoping that because of irregularities in voting, or in counting the vote, or because of legal actions, some states cant certify their final tallies by the the electoral deadline, which is sometime in December I believe. Therefore no candidate gets the required electoral college votes, and it goes to the House for some kind of vote.
That situation wouldn't affect it. Any State that fails to certify electors, brings the total number of appointed electors down, meaning the numerical majority to win election is lowered as well. The only way this would hurt Trump is if those States went for Trump, and Dems force their electors not to be appointed.
To: 21twelve
Something like 172 different ways it could be a tie. So to be read as 172 ways that Hillary could be president!
By which they mean the different ways all the State electors add up to a tie, so really just hot air, since it completely ignores how the States usually vote. Really, those "172" different ways is only one way: Electoral vote is a tie.
There's really only two ways the election doesn't determine the victor. As above, where there's an exact tie, or, if third party candidates/faithless electors pull enough votes to where the candidate with the plurality does not achieve the majority.
To: norcal joe
It doesn’t have to be a majority of the normal 270, it’s a majority of who’s ever there to vote on the appointed day. Lib states claim they can’t count fast enough (and they’re the only ones that would claim that), oh well.
