Murkowski is deep state.
She is the candidate the establishment pushed on Alaska to prevent a Sarah Palin endorsed candidate from winning.
She was supported by a combination of Democrats and RINOs, as I recall.
Both types hated Palin because she was effective and corruptible.

Sarah Palin apparently still has a lot of friends/voters in Alaska.
A couple of private focus groups paid for by Senator Lisa Murkowski, probably showed Lisa getting her butt kicked in an election between Sarah and Lisa with this issue.

Senator Susan Collins should, also, change her mind, and vote to confirm Amy Barrett. Doing so would, also, increase her chances of being re-elected. It’s important to not let the Democrats take over the U.S. Senate, in case the balance of political power is very close during the general election.
