Live broadcast of takeoffs of the large variety of aircraft used in WWII.
"Approximately 100 World War II aircraft will take to the sky in historically sequenced warbird formations. These formations will fly over the Washington Mall in two minute intervals. The formations will represent the Wars major battles, from Battle of Britain through the final air assault on Japan, and concluding with a missing man formation."

Busy day in DC. Franklin Graham event on the Mall now, Rose Garden announcement at 5PM...
The event has been canceled due to weather.
They did a nice job putting together video clips from the practice runs on Thursday. Seeing the two B-29s flying in formation was great - it’s hard to envision those planes aloft in the numbers common to the last months of the war.
Good post, very informative.
I love going to the Oshkosh EAA fly in and seeing those WWII fighters and bombers. My now gone father was a Marine. He was in the Marshall Is and went up in the torpedo planes with the greenhouse canopy to take weather and cloud readings as he was with a unit that did weather predictions to help the Navy and AF bombers in the western Pacific area.
