DeSantis did not shoot across the bow of Antifa/BLM, he dropped a tactical nuke.

Police officers are agents - and the face of - the state.

But they don't have fewer rights than private citizens--do they?

What I described is the same proscription against assault that protects anyone under the law. Threatening someone is assault, which is a crime. (Battery would be striking him.)

I never understood what screaming at a cop was going to get anyone, but I agree it’s free speech.

Of course if you get spittle on you, it’s battery. The police should act accordingly.

I have to disagree once again. There is a legal term called “fighting words”.

Just like you have freedom of speech- but you do not have freedom to yell fire in a crowded theater- you have freedom to scream “asshole” to a cop, but not 2 inches from his face.

That is the definition of verbal assault.

A cop in a riot line trying to control a situation does not have the ability to turn around and walk away.

A person doing that is an instigator and should be arrested.
