A bullet broke a window Sunday evening at the Lancaster County Republican Party headquarters on S.C. 9 Bypass East, and authorities are investigating to see if the office was the target of the gunshot. The incident happened between 7:15 and 10:50 p.m. when no one was in the headquarters, according to the Lancaster County Sheriffs Office. A window on the front of the office was broken about 2 feet above the floor, and a .40-caliber slug was found on the floor inside.

According to a sheriffs report, surveillance video from a nearby business did not show anyone in front of or near the building around the time of the incident.
Local GOP Chair Sandy McGarry said its scary to have a bullet hit the building where she spends so much time, and she is worried that the incident might be related to recent unrest around the country. I am worried for Lancaster, period, said McGarry, who is running against Democratic Rep. Mandy Powers Norrell for the S.C. House District 44 seat.
That was a bullet, she said. You are looking at nationwide unrest and statewide unrest. The unrest across the country needs to be addressed. It needs to be stopped. Put the guns away. State GOP Chair Drew McKissick went much farther, calling the shooting an attack from the political left.
This is more evidence the radical left in this country is coming completely unbalanced, McKissick said in a statement. What happened to our Lancaster office is a direct result of that.
The state party also sent out a fundraising email, saying a cowardly, radical vandal shot a bullet into our Lancaster County GOP office. Luckily, no one was hurt this time. The violence of the mob is spreading, and the Left is letting it happen.
The sheriffs office said there is no evidence at this point that the shooter was targeting the office. The report said the bullet seemed to have come from the direction of the Pardue Street apartments, which are visible across the bypass.
At this time we do not have information to indicate whether the location was targeted or whether this was an errant shot from a relatively distant location, said Doug Barfield, sheriffs office spokesman in an e-mail.
Keith Gray, Lancaster Countys Democrat Party chair, said he hated to see the incident take place. I am sorry to hear that happened, he said. That should never happen on either side of the aisle. Gray, who is running for the S.C. House District 45 seat against Rep. Brandon Newton, said the relationship between Republicans and Democrats in Lancaster County has always been respectful.
I disagree with their politics, but we agree on being civil, he said.
The sheriffs investigation is continuing.
It really is time to start shooting back. F them!
Yep, Gayle King would find it "troubling" her favorite word when they make up stuff they associate with Trump and/or his supporters.
And after that, the authorities are investigating if bears poop in the woods.

Interesting, it looks like pretty thick glass. But
one would still think that a 40 cal bulllet would have at least stuck in the wall. Pretty pathetic performance, even for a hollow point. The cartride must have been some cheap Speer, Liberty, Magtech, or Federal, or from someone who reloads their own cartridges and uses an intentionally light amount of powder to keep the projectile in the subsonic range, so they won’t disturb the neighbors when they are plinking in their backyard. I would tend to bet on cheap ammo and some malcontent who came down from Union County, and shot the window from far enough away that the cameras woudn’t pick up his North Carolina plates.
I say 50/50 it was a stray. In those parts stray bullets are a regular occurrence.
Given the way the window broke and the fact that the bullet wasn’t embedded in anything, I’d agree that it was most likely a spent stray.
That would explain the lack of velocity. Seems like a strange coincidence.
