Some of these actions could be accomplished if the militia came out. The media and the rioters would be upset, of course. But the police could shrug and continue to follow their current policy of not actually enforcing the laws. The rioters would realize what a dangerous environment they were in, and they would likely insist that police change their policy and actually enforce the law. At which point the city government could actually crackdown — on the rioters. They would then fade away because it wouldn’t be fun any more.
I believe there will come a point where either the authorities are going to come down with force, or...our fellow citizens are.
If people come to burn our houses down, many of us won’t passively sit back and watch it happen
