Two officers who were shot while downtown responding to protests in the wake of the Breonna Taylor decision are expected to be OK.
Louisville Metro Police Department interim Chief Rob Schroeder gave an update Thursday on the shooting that happened the evening prior that resulted in to LMPD officers receiving gunshot wounds.
One of the officers shot is Mjr. Aubrey Gregory, who has been one of the leaders in the department's efforts during protests. "Some would call him the bedrock of those efforts," Schroeder said.
He's the commander of the special operations division and was leading on the ground Wednesday night. LMPD said he was shot in the hip and has already been released from University Hospital.
Gregory joined LMPD in February of 1999.
The other officer shot, Officer Robinson Desroches, is with LMPD's 2nd division. He was shot in the abdomen and had to undergo surgery. Just before noon on Thursday, he is still hospitalized, and is expected to recover.

1 officer was released I heard....good news if true.
Good to hear. I’ve seen patients who’ve been gutshot in the surgical ICU. Not a pretty sight...
“Expected to recover” I guess is better than dying but they should not try to minimize the long term effects of having been shot. It is something that is merely a flesh wound. They must treat it as attempted murder in the first degree, and all of the assault with great bodily harm charges. If these things keep happening they really need to ratchet up the punishments. Assaults on police are assaults on society.
Cops’ lives matter. The hatred for the cops is hatred for the USA as a constitutional republic.
May as well have been charged with J-walking.

We’re no longer that. We’re run by mob rule now.
Thank goodness.
The rest of the force should walk off the job until the city leaders allow the cops to use the proper “tools” against the rioters.
What kind of Mom names her kid Larynx?
Why in hell wasn’t the perp charged with two counts of attempted murder. I can’t believe he was only charged with aggravated assault of some such bullcrap.
This a complete abdication of duty by County Atrorney Mike Oconnel.
