The only possible wrong committed by these cops who returned fire after entering the apartment was the "wrong" of a no-knock warrant. Now we know that they actually did announce themselves before entering. So the guy who shot at identified police is the wrongdoer and the only wrongdoer. But let's by all means have a riot and scream "racism."

On the other hand, the prosecutor's courageous decision not to charge these guys at all in connection with Taylor's death deserves praise.

And even that “wrong” - was 100% legal... Cops fire back when fired upon. It’s pretty standard.

And a jump in insurance premiums for shops in the area?

So Ben Crump is not happy. Someone needs to ask Joe Biden if Crump is on his list of potential Supreme Court nominees. (Obviously not his first pick because that one is already reserved for a black woman.)

Meh. You go screaming and breaking into people’s homes in the dead of night, you should reasonably expect that you’re going to be shot - and probably killed.
Don’t matter if you’re red, yellow, black or white, normal or into kinky sex, vegan or steak-lover, carry a badge, wear a mailman’s uniform or a waitress uniform.
People tend to respond a bit critically to the rude awaking of having their doors kicked down in the middle of the night.

This boils down to whether the cops announced themselves and where they were when the shots started firing. Only the people there know the truth about that.

“You go screaming and breaking into people’s homes in the dead of night,”

But the cops testified that they did announce themselves and “knock” before they entered and before lead started firing. I would really like to know whether the shots into the other apartments came from outside or through the drywall of the address at issue.

Getting an indictment from a grand jury, hearing only one side, is a lot easier than a guilty charge from a trial jury.

Criminals would NEVER yell that they were cops when they broke in! That would be AGAINST THE LAW!

Keep in mind, all of those shots[almost] are from the government.

Someone is screaming and kicking down your door at 3 AM. If your waking thought is “Gee, sweet unexpected visitors, honey - let’s break out the cookies and milk!”, then more power to ya. For most, it’s going to be the proverbial “shoot first and ask questions later”.
The lesson: Don’t break into people’s homes (especially in the dead of the night) - it applies to all parties, no matter their intent. Use common sense instead.

Here’s what seems obvious to me now. Kenneth Walker was in the apartment with Breonna Taylor when the cops tried to serve a warrant. Kenneth Walker, using Breonna Taylor as a human shield, fired his pistol at the cops as they entered the apartment, hitting Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly in the leg. The cops returned fire hitting Breonna Taylor as many as six times, one fatal. Kenneth Walker was not hit in the gunfire exchange. Kenneth Walker should be charged with attempted murder of a policeman and an accessory to murder in the killing of Breonna Taylor. It’s clear he was well-positioned behind Breonna Taylor when the bullets started flying since he wasn’t even nicked. If anyone’s looking to find fault in this incident they need look no further than Breonna Taylor and Kenneth Walker.

I agree the prosecutor made the right call. As soon as the guy fired the cops were entitled to defend themselves.

I don't necessarily agree with the guy knowing they really were police. When you crash into someone's home in the middle of the night and they are probably sleeping and may have enjoyed some adult beverages or whatever earlier in the evening, who knows what the guy thought he heard? Plus, anyone, including home invaders, can shout police.

The fault here, IMHO, is the issuance of a no knock warrant. They were introduced as part of the war on drugs, which by any objective measure we've lost. They should only be used in rare and exceptional circumstances.

An investigation found that the bullets fired by Hankison traveled into the neighboring apartment while three residents were home – a male, a pregnant female, and a child, Attorney General Daniel Cameron said at a press conference after the grand jury's announcement. Hankinson was not charged in Taylor's death, but rather for endangering her neighbors' lives.

I think the charges against the one officer are ridiculous.

If someone commits a felony, such as shooting at a policeman, and someone else dies as a result, then the first person is usually charged with murder. Therefore, Walker needs to be charged with murder.

Only if Crump self identifies as female. LOL

The guilty person is the guy who shot at the cops. He is guilty of anything that happens after that.
