TAMPA, Fla. As in-person spectacles go, Joseph R. Biden Jr.s pandemic-era campaign appearances can resemble the pandemic-era N.F.L. quiet, eerie and almost entirely fan-free.
There is scant physical evidence that the former vice president and Democratic nominee is in town. His visits are scarcely publicized beforehand, logistical details are closely held and his event venues serve as much as video studios as places of gathering. Barely anyone is allowed near the candidate.
I had to call an editor friend of mine at The Tampa Tribune to find out where hed be, said Rita Fox, a supporter of Mr. Bidens from St. Petersburg, Fla. She stood across the street from Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and near an entrance to Hillsborough Community College, where Mr. Biden was holding a veterans round-table event last week before about a dozen sanitized and socially distanced guests in a gymnasium whose bleachers remained folded up against the walls. No pull-asides, touching of the candidate or photos were permitted.
These measures are taken to ensure maximum protection against the coronavirus, Mr. Bidens campaign said. The productions also serve a strategic voter-outreach purpose, as they will typically draw significant local news coverage and be viewed online by tens of thousands of voters. And they comport with the general philosophy of a campaign that has ceased nearly all traditional means of in-person outreach, including door-knocking, mass distribution of signs and big rallies.
As Mr. Biden has resumed campaigning in key battlegrounds, his visits have acquired a distinctly stealthy quality. This can be jarring for a candidate whose zeal for face-to-face campaigning, wading into crowds and lingering on rope lines is well known.

They’re lying when they say that they don’t want to spread the virus. They don’t want too many people observing his dementia and slurred speech.
I had to check again after I saw the headlines and then again after reading the excerpt. This is from the NY Times? WOW!!!!
A. The Democrats cannot allow Biden to get too much scrutiny (and the media cooperates).
B. The Democrats figure that their cheating guarantees they will “win” so a traditional campaign isn’t needed.
Hidin’ Biden, hiding his dementia from the voters.
Even Joe doesn’t know when he’s in town.
Well, Joe’s bosses don’t believe he needs to be anywhere physically.
Those bosses have Biden on TV every five minutes in commercials. It seems that Biden has 5 commercials to every one on Trump’s commercials.
But, like I like to say, spending more to sell krap, will not make that krap smell or taste any better.
This is the same strategy that didn’t work for Hillary.
I think it’s B, mostly. I am concerned about B. Praying.
An old friend of mine used to say, “You can chrome a dog turd, but it’s still a dog turd.”
Even Biden is still smart enough to realize that picnicking in backyards, speaking in empty parking lots, cornfields, echoing halls, using a teleprompter to answer questions during “interviews” is not a real campaign. The only semblance of a campaign is the one run by the media on his behalf.
Maybe the Media/Dem Party think that voter fraud will win it for them, or maybe they actually believe all the polls that show Biden winning (much like they believed the polls in 2016) or the know Biden will lose and they’re just setting it up so that they can charge “Russian Collusion” for another 4 years.
You can chrome a turd, but it still is Hillary
Democrats are putting all their cards on mail fraud. That scares the hell out of me. I am not sure the Repblicans are capable of stopping it. May God help us.
They don’t want the Trump supporters greeting him 4628 to 1.
The petrified pretender for the paranoid.
Petrified wood is not Presidential timber.
And they’re getting plenty of help from their judges in the battleground states, too.

“This is the same strategy that didnt work for Hillary.”
but only more so, way more so ... at least hillary:
1. ran her own campaign, and ran it with an iron fist
2. she did appear in venues of 600-800 people, but only a couple of times per week, until the end when the panicked and had some BIG appearances with pop rockers as the draw
3. she DID have a ground game
biden’s campaign announced a few weeks ago that their “campaign” was going to be all digitial/”virtual” with zero ground game ...
“... No pull-asides, touching of the candidate or photos were permitted.”
” This is from the NY Times? WOW!!!!”
IMHO, they were protecting him and trying to provide cover.
