They block the data ports and only allow charging. I’ve been using them for years.
The use case is the "charging cable" is plugged into a laptop which is then hacked via the "rubber ducky" HID method. The other lightning end does nothing except charge someone's phone. It's the hacker's phone they are showing in the video. They are connecting to a webserver in the cable.
Price. And not knowing there are risks.

I use Anker chargers and cables. They are the best.
Do you remember your mother running the vaccuum on one side of the house and the TV scrambling on the other side? Was that interference signal only transmitted through the air?
This gives me concern about those after market cords you can purchase at any store or gas station as well.
"Hey, why does this cable have a small tag that says, 'property of FBI?'".
What about Androids? I expect they have the same issues.

Do you refer to that country where almost ALL consumer electronics manufacturers including the ones who made YOUR phone and almost all the parts in YOUR device you posted that out of date ignorant drivel with make THEIR products? That country which embraced Capitalism more than twenty years ago, despite the fact it DOES have a totalitarian government dictatorship, with some trappings of socialism for major industries such as shipping, electrical production, telecommunications, and banking? That country? The one where citizens are free to start businesses, work for whom they please, and has a burgeoning middle class due to those capitalistic reforms? That country? The one who discovered that command driven, top down markets don’t work, but western style open, free will markets do? That’s today’s China.
They’re still our greatest threat, and do not play by the international rules. But they are NOT a communist slave state and have not been for at least 25 years. Come into the 21st century and fight today’s China, not 1970s China. If you fight the 20th Century’s China you will LOSE. We have to know we are not fighting lock step slaves anymore. We are fighting a growing nation of what WE used to be! Entrepreneurs! Smart, educated people willing to take big risks to make a profit. . . and they outnumber us.
