All I got to say is that the Reps best not allow the Dimwits to do their circus act. Here is the nominee, 1 minute, vote out of committee 30 seconds, adjourn, leave 2 sec. Floor vote set 1 sec later and then deal with the Dimwits maneuvers.
Do it! The dems are going to burn cities down regardless of what you do.
That’s the first step. Romney an McConnell are in a dance...this is phase 1.
It’s not about Trump, but about what Trump represents. He is the bull in the china shop and has overturned all the traditions and back scratching of the Senate, DC Swamp, politics, etc. He has upset the usual order and in the process has exposed the cockroaches to the sunlight...and it’s pretty ugly and Joe Sixpack has seen it for what’s it is...especially after all these years. Something Trump has been saying in his recent rallies has not been lost on me...the previous two Presidential administrations (W and Obama) sold us out...notice, not just Obama, but W’s, too.
“”””I said I supported having a vote. I didn’t say I’d vote ‘yes’ for the nominee.””””
Translation: Dems and the press will just love ME!
Despite him being a weasel never-Trumper, I’m glad he put his value of human life over his disdain for pretty much everything else.
It would be a brilliant strategic move in Mitten's part. If he could get a couple of his RINO buddies to vote 'NO' with him, they'd effectively scuttle Trump's chances of filling the vacancy before the election. There wouldn't be enough time to nominate another person, and have a complete background investigation and committee hearings.
The advantage to Judge Barret is that she was just confirmed to the 7th Circuit in 2017, so there is no need for another in-depth investigation and hearing. Only a cursory one.
Curious as to what Mittens’ quid pro quo on this is...
Look, I think we should confirm the nominee, but it needs to be done carefully.
Rushing through this will energize the Dems right before the election.
Trump should announce his nominee soon to energize the GOP.
But, hold off until voting until after the election. We have to try to do what we can to save Collins even though she isn’t ideal. We need her seat. She has many gunning for her for voting for Kavanaugh.
If Collins loses, it’s likely the Senate is lost. While many will vote against her already, if she is not forced to vote for a nominee before the election, it would help her.
It could be that if she is allowed to be a token no vote, that could help somewhat, but not as much as if we just wait probably. If we don’t wait, it will energize the left more than the right. If we wait, the right will be energized more.
BS. Don't let these squishes think that is remotely acceptable!
“Rushing through this will energize the Dems right before the election.”
I don’t think they could be any more energized than they are now.
Hearings take time. It doesn’t just happen overnight. The amount of paperwork and things with SCOTUS nominees is intense.
And framkly, I think it is better for us politically to vote after the election so it is seen as taking our time, not rushing to get it done before. It will also motivate our base while not riling up the other side as much as if we had voted just a week or two before the election and pissed them off more than they already are.
I second that. Git it done don’t give the rats time to obstruct.
They are fraudulent hypocrites who just want access to the system for their own lust for power and material gain. Voting against Trump's nominee would make it even more obvious than it already is.
Give the hearing one week and move it to the floor, get it done and over before the Democrats burn down the capitol.
I am concerned after Trump that there will be a push to go “back to normalcy”, and candidates like Jeb, Marco, Kasich, Romney, Nikki Haley, etc., will emerge to take up the “compassionate conservative” mantle...
Is there an anti-abortion law in the future?
That will be the battle for the Republican party. I will not vote for anyone who is a Never-Trumper if they win the nomination. I supported McCain and Romney, even though they were less than optimum (to say the least). The Republicans had the House, the Senate and the White House, and THEY didn’t support Trump (read: us). I will go third party in the eventuality of a Never-Trumper Republican nomination.
