Infantry recruits will no longer have drill sergeants barking orders at them inches from their faces during basic training as the “shark attack” technique, which uses intimidation to establish authority and weed out the weak, is dropped in favor of a new approach.
The Army’s Infantry School at Fort Benning, Ga., said it’s switching from the “Full Metal Jacket,” in-your-face practice to one called “The First 100 Yards,” which seeks to develop mental and physical toughness, instill pride in the infantry, and build trust among recruits and their leaders.
The coronavirus may have hastened the switch, since the pandemic has ended up-close shouting by instructors at basic training. Trainers and recruits in all the services wear face masks and maintain social distancing during basic training, and even Navy special warfare instructors yell through megaphones these days.
But “The First 100 Yards” is also “a complete rewrite of what was commonly referred to as the ‘Shark Attack,’” Command Sgt. Maj. Robert K. Fortenberry, the infantry school’s senior enlisted leader, said in an online commentary earlier this month...

Get rid of the standing army. Then take the army budget and give it to the Navy and Marines. The army can be drafted and trained as needed. The navy can’t be used for domestic shenanigans.

I’ve said this for a long time. Let the homos fight our wars. Once everyone understands the cost of destroying our military unit cohesion, then the so-called leaders might change their minds.
The pussification of the US Military continues. We can’t have mean DI’s screaming and yelling in the faces of Snowflakes. First, it was Timeout Cards. Now, this. When the next major war breaks out we are going to be so screwed.
This is blatant insubordination to President Trump and his tough as nails doctrine. The CDC just recently defied his directive to cease the CRT training program and now this.
The Swamp wants to overwhelm the system. Showing President Trump THEY are in control by disobeying him on more fronts than he can possibly keep up with.
I remember taking an overnight train to boot camp - must have arrived at 2am, dead tired. Then about 4am the ‘Shark Attack’ began ... gawd, I was in shock for a month ...

OORAH!!! Indeed. The Marines just recently mandated an increase in the difficulty of their Marksmanship course. Instituting Randomly Moving Targets accuracy into the requirement.
The Army is REMF’s and special forces/airborne. The REMFs go through wussified basic. The actual war fighters are the special forces and airborne.
Marines will never forget the yellow footprints in the dark.
