>>>So you’re the one. I always wondered who the heck could stand to eat at one of those dumps.>>>>

That would be me. Wow, some of you seem hostile over an eatery that others like. LOL. Bizarre.

LOL...I have that album...with the inside jacket framed, in our game room!

Houston....especially the old Leo’s where that album jacket pic was taken, is, for the most part, TexMex.

West Texas/New Mexico has the best, most authentic Mexican food, to me. All of the salsas are made from scratch, as opposed to ‘chili gravy from chili powder’, with TexMex.

AZ/Phx Mexican food was not that great, IIRC.

I mean for awhile there were so many places that were more or less competing for the same types of customers

Applebys, Fridays, Outback, Chilis, Red Robin,

Then you had the buffet chains

Then the mexican craze came and went

Then the older ones Ground Round, Ponderosa, Sizzler, that had been around awhile but were kind of tired and old compared to the others

I agree....dems want these restaurants to fail.

What is your take, on why?

I say because the majority are franchise owners who are LIKELY to be independently minded conservatives....aka Trump voters.

“And what about the taco shells here in Texas? Why can’t I find a single Tex Mex that doesn’t use Taco Bell preformed, premade, might as well be boxed taco shells for their tacos?”

Haha! Born and raised in So Cal. Back in the late 60’s hard shell Tacos were pretty avg. at best... gringo style in Orange County. We took a trip to Texas in the Summer of 68’ even by So Cal standards we were appalled at the Taco offerings to say the least. I’m sure it is a lot better than you say????

Some of you seem backed up. Maybe less steak and more fiber? More Salad? More Sizzler Salad bar? Might relieve some tension.....LOL

I still regret selling our little Rental Condo when we moved out of CA.
Didn’t want the Renter Headache.

Took the quick profit, but like everything in life hindsight is 20/20.

Uh, no. Sizzler’s salad bar got nasty in the 2000s. Their remaining customers after that have been ‘aging out of the market’ since.

Corn nuggets? Anything like Corn Fitters?

Southern Corn Fritters
Ing 8.5 oz box Jiffy corn muffin mix ½ cup flour ½ cup milk 1 egg
½ stick butter, melted 1 cup corn ½ cup chopped green onions

Instructions Whisk corn muffin mix and flour. Whisk ½ cup milk, 1 egg and ½ stick melted butter in another bowl. Stir this mixture into the corn muffin mix and flour. Stir in cup of corn and ½ cup chopped green onions. Drop by tablespoonfuls into 2" 365 deg vegetable oil; fry golden brown, 3 min.

Serve drizzled with honey for a real Southern treat!

LOL....Sizzler Salad Bar....home of the bugs...stomach bugs.

I worked at department store, in high school, that had a “nice” restaurant. The restaurant had a salad bar.

My first week, I was taking lunch break, with a new coworker....I said...let’s have lunch here, they have a salad bar! She said, My brother works there....he said....NEVER, EVER eat at a salad BAR....you don’t want to know what they do with left over salad/salad items, at the end of the day!!

I haven’t had a salad bar salad, since.

We only buy our own salad greens, veggies, dressings, etc., WASH and make our own salads.

Love them!!
