As Tropical Storm Higos blew in from the Pacific, Stephen Stanek, a covert CIA operative, faced a decision. It was time to either cancel the operation he was running or go forward with it. The storm was barreling through the Philippines but was then projected to veer north and miss their area of operation.
Staneks partner for the operation, a younger man named Michael Perich, had recently graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy. A football player at the academy, Perich was now at the beginning of his career in paramilitary operations and had just recently been trained as a scuba diver.

I think CIA folks gave this story to news orgs to hit back at Kandra.
What did Bush know?
I’m for blowing up the Three Gorges dam.
Not a bad idea...but perhaps unnecessary. From what I’ve read that dam is so badly designed,so badly built, and so badly situated that it’s just a matter of time for a catastrophe of biblical proportions to occur.
They didn’t disappear in China. Their bosses sent a bunch of relatively inexperienced seamen on a boat into a hurricane.
The article is misleading. The article itself suggests that the vessel was lost in the storm and was not captured or destroyed by the Chinese. Facts matter, and the few facts that exist on this voyage point to a maritime disaster. These storms can and have sunk mega freighters in these waters, a 40 foot vessel was in great peril.
“so badly built”
Pictures definitely show the dam “buckling”.
Shows how inept these people are.
Were there any Chinese Drivers of US Senators around at that time?
The buckling is due to poor splicing of multiple satellite shots.

Having just had a vacation ruined by being in Pesnsacola during hurricane Sally, I would say it is criminal to send anyone out in a boat when there is one around.
Every ChiCom student is an agent. Not to mention the Chinese Buffet workers.
I thought the Chinese admitted to deformation of the structure...
....yes, they CCP) did. The CCP issued a statement admitting to deformation of a non-critical portion of the dam structure.
So its probably critical...
Were they wearing red shirts?
So its probably critical.
.... Yes, one would think that any portion of a dam structure that large would be critical to its overall structural integrity. Maybe the portion in question was designed for decorative purposes? /sarc
An ode to Mao...
