Exactly. She could probably turn this around if she would come out and enthusiastically back Trump’s SCOTUS pick. She is too stupid to see that if people wanted a RAT, they would vote for a real stinky RAT.
The only good thing about having her in the Senate is the R after her name.
A Repub majority means chairmanship of committees, etc. A huge advantage.
Even if she is unreliable in voting.
That is a BIG jump from the 12 point lie.
Why is Maine so liberal?
I always thought it was the states dominated by giant cities...
New York, Connecticut and NJ because of NYC
California because of LA and SF
Illinois because of Chicago.
Massachusetts because if Boston, etc..
Oregon and Washington State dont have huge cities but they do seem full of urban sprawl.
Then you have swing states like PA, MI where there are vast rural areas offset by a few big cities.
Maine doesnt seem to fit the bill - I always thought there was a lot of rural areas and no monster cities.
Perhaps my urban vs rural model is too simplistic?
“...But how bad is her opponent?”
ANY “DEMOCRAT” IS BAD.
At this point any RINO is better than any Rat, but I believe the Repubs will lose the Senate this year, big time.
Irrational hatred is a huge motivator for voters, and I expect there will be a lot of upsets this election year ... and it will be unimaginably terrible for the country.
It is when the control of the Senate is at stake.
The only shot she has at retaining her seat...a Trump visit/campaign for her in her state...and her vote FOR a new Supreme Justice. Her vote against a new justice would have Conservatives neglecting a lever-pull for her on election day.
Collins has supported the ongoing coup against President Trump. Frankly, she deserves to lose for that issue alone.
just as an experiment, she should support Trump and declare that she will vote to replace Ruthie. “What the hell does she have to lose?”
“Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG) was a highly classified, multi-service United States special operations unit which conducted covert unconventional warfare operations prior to and during the Vietnam War.”
Dang, dude...that’s classified. Now you have to kill all of us.
Anyways...that’s impressive, guy!
Fortunately, the Cumberland & York County region in Southern Maine does not adequately represent the more conservative population of our State.
Sara Gideon is a reprehensible choice who reeks of slimyness. A pox on her house.
Five points in a modern poll is a draw. Collins is a savvy campaigner.
This time, however, she’s in a very, very tough spot. If she drags her heels on the USSC vote, ME GOP simply won’t vote for her. She cannot possibly alienate the lefties any more because of her Judge K vote.
So by saying she won’t vote on a replacement before the election, she sealed her doom.
I moved her to sure loss, moved McSally (for same reasons-—she came out strong for an immediate replacement) to tossup.
voting against Trump on a new supreme court pick has ended her political career
Well, now she should go for broke and vote YES to TRump’s nominee.
And now, she is acting like a democrat, talking like a democrat, voting like a democrat. So, her used-to-be-republican voters say, “Why not vote for a democrat?”
(And the always-a-democrat voters say “Let's vote for a democrat this time!” With the excitement noted.)
She has one chance - And her staff, and her foolish pride, and her foolish hatred of Trump, will not let her make it - Call Trump. Apologize, and ask for an endorsement and a few campaign visits.
A Republican, Susan Collins, just enhanced her chance of losing yesterday by stating that she would not vote for Trump’s nominee until after the election of the new president. She, and Murkowski are placing their careers in the Senate in jeprody if they hold to that stance.
Maine should be a shoe in for Trump
Trump freed up 5000 square miles for Maine fishing and lobster fishing that was put off limits by Obama.
Trump also fixed the tariff situation regarding sales of lobsters by Canada.
Bottom line Trump saved the entire Maine fishing and lobster industry.
As ye sow, so shall ye reap.
rwood
Thats 5000 square miles of fishing rights allocated to Maine
I have a different perspective on Sen. Collins’ announcement that she wouldn’t be voting for the nominee before the election.
Remember, she was a holdout on Kavanaugh until the Left overplayed their hand with the character assassination. After that fiasco, she announced her support for Kavanaugh and cited the Left’s behavior as her reason.
Now, by announcing as she did, she will give the Left pause before they set out on another character assassination. She’s on record as being driven to support a nominee if that happens, as it probably will.
This has two potential effects: 1. The Left will worry about losing Collins if they again overplay the character angle, and 2) if they do overplay, as they are wont to do, she can change her mind, save the day, and possibly retain the Independent votes she relies upon in Vermont while picking the GOP votes back up again. If she doesn’t change her stance, for whatever reason, I would think she’s toast because the GOP voters are unlikely to forgive her this time around. I suspect she’ll change her stance anyway, but for now it does pressure the Left to avoid behavior that will anger her.
