Since the start of the COVID pandemic I have watched almost everyone get mission critical things wrong. In some ways this is not surprising. Medical terminology is horribly imprecise, and often poorly understood. In calmer times such things are only of interest to research geeks like me. Were they talking about CVD, or CHD? However, right now, it really, really, matters. Specially, with regards to the term COVID cases.

unintentional or intentions mistakes...that is the question.
in Australia, the following was barely mentioned in MSM.
10 Sept: Warwick Daily News: Revealed: Australia wrongly sent into lockdown after error
by Matthew Benns
Coronavirus modelling used by the Federal Government to send Australia into financially crippling lockdown used the wrong figures and dramatically over-estimated how many people could need intensive care.
When the modelling was released at the start of the pandemic by the Melbourne-based Peter Doherty Institute, it horrified health officials.
“This is a horrendous scenario,” chief medical officer Brendan Murphy said at the time. “A daily demand for new intensive care beds of 35,000 plus.”...
The error made the effect of the pandemic appear four times worse than the modelling actually intended, predicting 12,000 people in NSW would go into ICU rather than 3000. And it informed the advice that led to economically crippling lockdowns across the nation.
“I strongly believe we lock down too hard,” James Cook University professor of infectious diseases modelling Emma McBryde said...
Once her team had worked out how the error occurred, they contacted the Doherty researchers and received an email back confirming the modelling would be updated.
“That was three months ago and we are still waiting,” Prof McBryde said.
The ABC quoted the incorrect figures again this week...

Doherty is an Australian “National Treasure”:
10 Sept: news.com.au: Coronavirus Australia: Mistake in COVID modelling that informed lockdown
***Director of Doherty Epidemiology, Professor Jodie McVernon, confirmed an error in the graphical representations of the modelling was noticed in June
A more detailed description of the modelling with the corrected graphical representations was submitted for peer review to the Emerging Infectious Diseases journal and was accepted for publication on the August 30, 2020.

now, with single digit daily deaths in Victoria the past couple of weeks - with the exception of 11 deaths one day - we have the following (most States/Territories have no deaths, some have no cases):
18 Sept: Catallaxy Files: Victoria now introduces detention without trial
This is the bit of her explanation that I want to highlight (emphasis added):
“The ability for cases of COVID-19 to be proactively managed is critical to the safe operation of Victorias response to COVID-19. To ensure that the Government has the flexibility to respond to the health risks posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, greater scope is required to issue detention notices to hold people in accommodation.
“The Bill will provide further emergency powers to authorised officers to issue detention notices and detain particular high-risk personsif the authorised officer reasonably believes that a person is likely to refuse or fail to comply with a direction made by the Chief Health Officer. High-risk persons are defined to include those diagnosed with COVID-19 and still infectious, and close contacts of those people.
“This amendment will enable the authorised officer to detain individuals for the purpose of ensuring compliance with the relevant direction during the COVID-19 state of emergency. This amendment will ensure that in instances where a person is COVID-19 positive or a close contact and is likely to refuse or fail to comply the person can be detained into quarantine to ensure the safety of their family, close contacts and the wider community.”..READ ON

It’s not a pandemic.
Summary execution in

It is a dempanic.
This is the point that the President (somewhat inarticulately) made about a month ago. That we are seeing rapid case growth because we are testing more people.
When reopening business require their entire staff to be tested, people who would never self-identify as needing a test (no symptoms) are getting into the count.
I stopped reading at the hypocritical use of COVID to describe the virus (which is, in fact, SARS-CoV-2).
