As heinous as his crime was, the apparently large number of prison rapes sickens me. And what sickens me about it the most, is that most of them could not take place without the cooperation of prison personnel. I consider that cooperation a sign of a corrupt human being. I expect bad behavior from sociopathic prisoners; that prison guards are complicit, makes them no better than the criminals they are guarding. Ditto for the drug use in prisons.
Rape is one thing, punishing a child molester is another. A millstone around the neck and deep water is perfect.
Our criminal justice system has truly failed when the best chance of justice being served is for a criminal to be raped and murdered in prison.
IMHO, we need to bring back public hangings in the courthouse square. There is no question that someone who videotapes the sexual assault of a baby needs killing (along with everyone else involved). He just needs killing publicly and as a legal sentence.
