It is time to realize the real environmentalists are the loggers and lumber industry which actually works with the forests to make them as healthy as humanly possible

The decimation of the logging industry is exactly why these fires are so bad now. Logging thins the forest and removes the ladder fuel needed to get these fires as big as they are now.
On another note, what is the name of the fire that was approaching Portland? If it was coming from the east, and truly got close to Portland, I would have thought the fire would be burning through hundreds of thousands of homes. Yet I cannot even find this fire except through second hand stories like the one above.
Lion’s Head is the northern fire and Santiam is the one from the south to Portland. Rumor is they merged which is about a 50 mile fire line.
Probably the Corbett fire, just East of Portland. Not sure what started that one but there was a small fire started in that area by rigged fireworks set 150 yds into the woods. Locals were able to put that out.
