There are two very obvious reasons for this.
Notice how the author CAREFULLY avoiding pointing out WHO pointed the gun at WHOM. Very creative parsing of words. Wow....
Notice that they didn’t specify the type of ‘rifle’ that’s in question. It could have been a bolt-action Marlin .22 or the like. If this were a Trump supporter, they’d have probably massaged it into a fire-breathing, belt-fed, full auto .50 cal BMG with swastikas painted on the ammo cans.
