Trump unveils Supreme Court list, includes Cruz and Cotton

President Trump on Wednesday announced an updated list of potential nominees to the Supreme Court that included three Republican U.S. senators and his former solicitor general.

Trump announced 20 additional potential nominees that would be added to a list of candidates for the Supreme Court, including Sens. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Noel Francisco, who departed as solicitor general in June.

The move represents a bid to shore up his support among conservatives two months from the 2020 presidential election. In remarks at the White House, Trump warned that religious liberty, freedom of speech and the right to bear arms are all at risk if Democrats win the election, asserting that they would appoint “radical” justices to the high court.

“Over the next four years, America’s president will choose hundreds of federal judges and in all likelihood, one, two, three and even four Supreme Court justices,” Trump said in remarks from the Diplomatic Reception Room at the White House.

“The outcome of these decisions will determine whether we hold fast to our nation’s founding principles or whether they are lost forever,” Trump continued.

Once CWII goes hot, it will, among other things, present the opportunity to re-litigate Marbury. Until then, that's exactly the situation, as it has been since 1803.

It would likely be a financial come down for Levin to make the switch from radio and TV commentator to Supreme Court Justice but imagine the greater impact he would have in returning our country to its founding documents. His workload as a SC Justice would certainly be reduced at a typical rate of 80-85 cases per year to consider with the help of court clerks in support.

"The only way one is naturally an American is when one cannot be anything else."

Nope. Not the definition. Never was. Still isn't.

Always has been.

Anyone born with more than ONE nationality is not naturally an American.

Whatever, if that's what "naturally an American" means to you. But it's not what "natural born citizen" means.

A Cruz nomination, would he be allowed to vote for himself in the senate or how does that work? Would we lose a vote then?

Cruz already said he doesn’t want the appointment.

I don’t think it will be cRuz.

That was just a hat tip, by POTUS.

He won’t pick off any more Senators (ala Sessions), for nominations for anything, I don’t imagine.

Cruz stated a few days ago that although he was humbled to be on the list he was not interested in being on the court!!

Yeah I think the nominee will be Amy Barret but I still wonder about a senator nominated scenario.

I actually haven't looked very closely to the possibilities.....Trumps got quite the long list so we'll see who he narrows it to soon enough then I'll take a closer look.

Cruz has put that arguement to rest. He doesn’t want it so it’s a dead issue.
