The University of Rhode Island recently announced plans to remove two murals depicting the events of World War II due to their lack of diversity. The decision was prompted after students complained that the mural was not compatible with the universitys values of inclusivity. According to the schools Vice President of Student Affairs, Some of our students have even shared with us they didnt feel comfortable sitting in that space.

Yes, the team picture of the LA Lakers lacks diversity of players. Get rid of the picture and the extra players.
The team picture of the Philadelphia Eagles roster picture lacks diversity. Get rid of the picture and the extra black players.
White players are way under-represented.
University of Rhode Island students, you can't just apply your diversity complaint to some situations.
Had the bombs not been dropped he probably would have ended up in combat over Japan.
You posted “Up until the Korean War the military was segregated.”
Let me add to the discussion: The military was “officially” desegregated per President Truman’s Executive Order 9981: Desegregation of the Armed Forces (1948).
However the Army got around it by moving segregated black battalions into white regiments but leaving that battalion as entirely black. For separate battalions, it was done by a similar swap out of one white company for one black one, leaving the battalion with 2 white and 1 black company.
It was only with the need for replacements, especially in the infantry units, that true integration was attained. The personnel replacement system could not maintain the “pretend integration” that had been done between 1948 and when the Korean War began. I cannot comment on how the Navy and Air Force complied with Truman’s EO.
The big irony is the USA used to be a giant “melting pot” and we probably had people from 150 of the world’s nations fighting in that war on our side. Back then, there were no hyphens. They were all simply “Americans.” They all came to the USA to be Americans. I know all of my German, English and Irish ancestors did.
Could you imagine the howls of anguish if we HAD put them all in the first wave on D-Day? Then we would have been excoriated for being racist and putting minorities out front to die for white men.
It’s a lose-lose.
“beginning to”???
Did you enjoy your nap, Rip?
[Put up a CNN monitor, like in the airport, for WWIII.]
Well, there’s always the “artwork” at the airport in Denver...
Notice everybody in those murals is HAPPY?
If you painted a mural of today’s snowflakes, you would have nothing but grumpy sourpusses unhappy about everything.
Even though they were denied the front lines, black soldiers did so much of the heavy lifting in the rear. Factory work, shipbuilding, ammunition depots, freighters, cooks. The army could not have fought without their contributions in logistics and materiel.
I’m finding that LOTS of photographs and videos I used to come across are now not returned in both Google and DuckDuckGo searches.
“At that time, they only accepted lesbians.”
WHAT? Where are you getting your history?
At a MINIMUM, cancel ALL federal loans for college. This sh!t didn't exist before the progs decided that everybody had to go to college and provided cheap or zero cost federal money to do it. A lot of our problems are due to the feds trying to make college cheap and people enrolling who have no business being there. We are feeding the marxist indoctrination centers with our taxes subsidizing cheap college. It's worse than a waste of our money because we are paying them to churn out indoctrinated enemies.
Thanks, but I was expecting to see a WWII picture....
Only solution to communism is a "tried & true" communist solution...
This is why we can’t have nice things.
MFers
This is pretty sick. It’s both racist and ungrateful.
Thanks for the additional information.
