De Blasio is useless — and NYC’s next mayor could be even worse
New York Post ^ | September 8, 2020 | Michael Goodwin

Posted on 09/09/2020 4:35:08 AM PDT by karpov

If Mayor Putz had thrown in a “just kidding” line, his Tuesday press conference would have made more sense. Instead, he again looked like a mayor who doesn’t give a damn.

“Except for that incident, overwhelmingly we had a peaceful weekend in central Brooklyn,” de Blasio told reporters.

“That incident” was the shooting of a 6-year-old boy and his mother. And the “peaceful weekend” included the shootings of 26 other people around the five boroughs.

If this is peace, what would war look like?

Called on his disconnect, de Blasio fired back by saying he was only talking about central Brooklyn. So now he’s just the mayor of central Brooklyn?

It is hard to imagine that New York will survive the nearly 16 months remaining in de Blasio’s reign of error, and even harder to believe he wants to do the work the job requires. Lazy by nature, he has coasted since he was re-elected in 2017 for his second and final term, and his performance during the pandemic reveals he’s already quit on the city.

Serious plans for reopening schools were nonexistent for too long and he made little effort and next-to-no progress in getting the union on board. The city’s unemployment rate remains at nearly 20 percent and some 646,000 private sector jobs vanished, yet there is no evidence de Blasio cares about getting people back to work.

The city is hemorrhaging red ink but his only stabs at the gigantic and growing deficit are to try to raise taxes and borrow.

All these circumstances constitute emergencies, but Public Enemy No. 1 is the surge of violent crime.

No bailouts for self-destructive cities. Voters need to suffer the consequences of their decisions.

Exactly.. I have no doubt that, were he not term-limited, DeBlasio would win re-election in a walk.

De Blasio is a communist pot-head married to a ugly lesbian black woman. What could possibly go wrong?

He should not be allowed to finish out his term, or even this current week. Hey, maybe loudmouthed entertainment industry nitwit, Jerry Seinfeld, would enjoy moving his residence from his Hampton mansion and run for mayor.

“Voters need to suffer the consequences of their decisions.”

They do indeed.

I know it would never happen, because it’s likely unconstitutional as hell, but I would institute a law that registered Democrats and/or Socialists CAN NOT move out of the leftist city or state in which they reside.

He is just waiting for the Cameltoe presidency and the bailout on the backs of people who actually work.

Agreed. I was in NYC yesterday for the first time in almost 7 months- had to see some clients.

1- the city is empty. I’ve never seen it like this.

2- the clients told me not only were businesses boarded up but so were apartment buildings in her area to prevent damage from the rioters.

3- while walking on East 86th Street to meet the client i saw a portion of graffiti written on a plastic traffic device. It said “PORT TRUMP!!” Walking closer i knew it was going to say “Deport Trump” and i’m figuring out what i should do about it. When i get in full view i find someone had taken black spray paint and changed the original message from “deport Trump” to “SUPPORT TRUMP!”. On the upper east side....in Manhattan...

I had the similar thoughts about California’s Governor Newsom.

I get the impression that he ran for Governor of California just to check the box before his true objective, President.

I really think he thought he would just coast for a couple of years, push every liberal cause that came along and then announce his run for higher office...well a funny thing happened on his way to the oval office.

Problems developed, problems that would take a real leader to address. So what is the verdict on how Newsome is handling the crisis, he is acting like a school hall monitor that carries a gun.

His responses have been so heavy handed that every crisis has gotten worse under his rule.

I guess the only good thing to come out of all this is that if he decides to run for President it may be the first time in a long time the Democrats don’t carry California.

New York is doomed. It’s filled with New Yorkers. You know, liberals who are beyond sure that they know all the answers. They will vote for someone like AOC to be mayor, and the downward spiral continues.

The bad news is, there are over 8 million of those cockroaches. They will scatter and vote Dem in their new homes.

Apparently De Blasio is our fault.
The way it was explained to me, is that the ‘Pubbies don’t spend any money in NYC and don’t offer any decent candidates, so there is zero enthusiasm for non-Democrat candidates. As a result only about 22% of eligible voters actually vote, and most of them are Democrats.
Or something like that.
That is why I say NYC gets what it voted for - or failed to vote against.

“In the end, a people always get the government they deserve.”

What is with this generalized thinking? The Republican/Conservatives who voted against the left suffer as well. They are “the people” as well.

Yes, but in NYC registered Democrats vastly outnumber registered Republicans.

That’s why the ‘Pubbies don’t bother spending any money - it just goes down the tubes.
IF the NYCers want to something from the ‘Pubbies, they need to give them a sign!

If gropey joe is elected billions of our dollars will flow to de blasio and the mayors of other failed democrat cities. That money will go from hard-working people to unproductive slackers who vote democrat.

In 2013, Bill De Blasio, then the New York City (NYC) “Public Advocate”, defeated a slate of 8 rivals to win the NYC Democrat Primary for Mayor to succeed term-limited Michael Bloomberg. Amongst his rivals was former US Representative Anthony Weiner, who came in 5th place.

Congrats Bill, you are doing well in rehabilitating Rep. Weiner’s reputation!
