The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced a new set of standards for the Academy Awards's best picture category on Tuesday as part of efforts to improve representation in film for underrepresented racial minorities, women, LGBTQ people and people with disabilities.
A statement on the Academy's website detailed four categories of standards for films, at least two of which a film must meet in order to be considered for a best picture nomination.
The four standards deal with a variety of issues including on-screen representation for actors and actresses of underrepresented groups in both casting and in the theme or subject matter of films, as well as off-screen opportunities in project leadership positions and general staffing.
The Oscars "must widen to reflect our diverse global population in both the creation of motion pictures and in the audiences who connect with them. The Academy is committed to playing a vital role in helping make this a reality, Academy President David Rubin and Academy CEO Dawn Hudson said in a joint statement accompanying the announcement. We believe these inclusion standards will be a catalyst for long-lasting, essential change in our industry.

Same here. Bunch of no talent spoiled degenerates.
also known as restrictions and quotas.
A different size and color Oscar award for each virtue?
Yup. ‘Bout the size of it.
I won’t be happy with any of this until these people correct the racist inspired error of 1940 and take away Vivien Leigh’s best actress award for Gone with the Wind and properly reward it instead to Hattie McDaniel.
Havent watched the oscars in 30 years. about as exciting as, I guess swatch came out with a new colored watch. And betty Davis got screwed by Joan Crawford in 1963.
/sarcasm on/Thankfully “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Doctor Zhivago” would have made the cut on Standard A. That David Lean was way ahead of his time in casting Omar Sharif./sarcasm off/
/sarcasm on/Would Orcs be considered an “underrepresented” group?/sarcasm off/
Based on this standard Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk” would have not been nominated for Best Picture. All the lead actors are white male English, I doubt 30% of the extras were from underrepresented groups although there were Africans soldiers fighting for the French, and woman nurses, and finally the story is not about some “underrepresented” group.
Now, does this mean that 13.7% of all Oscars must go to blacks? If we take into account reparations maybe they should get 70% of the Oscars. I hear that next year that white hetrosexuals will be banned from the Oscars.
I also read that film output will drop by 70% next year as they can’t find enough black actors.
Who knows, perhaps Hollywood along with pro sports will re-popularize reading.
Best male, best female, best trans male, best trans fem, best cis this, best cis that ...
Its insufferable now....just wait.
Here it is condensed (from another site):
“To be eligible for Best Picture, films must meet any TWO of the following FOUR criteria.
1. ON-SCREEN REPRESENTATION
This standard can be met by fulfilling any ONE of these:
Lead actor or significant supporting actor from an ethnic minority group
At least 30 per cent of smaller roles are played by women, LGBT people, disabled people or ethnic minorities
The main storyline is centered on an under-represented group
2. CREATIVE LEADERSHIP
This standard can be met by fulfilling any ONE of these:
At least two senior creative posts, such as casting director, make-up artist or producer, are from an under-represented group including women
At least six smaller roles in the crew are filled by ethnic minorities
At least 30 per cent of the film’s total crew is from an under-represented group
3. INDUSTRY ACCESS
This standard can be met by fulfilling BOTH of these:
Studios and distributors must have paid interns or apprentices who are women or come from minority groups
Training opportunities must be offered to under-represented groups in production, distribution and financing
4. AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT
This standard can be met by fulfilling this ONE requirement:
Multiple senior executives in publicity, marketing and distribution are women or minority groups “
