Biden got 5 draft deferments during Nam, as did Cheney (FLASHBACK August 31, 2008)

DOVER, Del. - Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden received five student draft deferments during the Vietnam War, the same number of deferments received by Vice President Dick Cheney, and later was disqualified from service because of asthma that he suffered as a teenager.

Officials with Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's campaign released Biden's Selective Service records at the request of The Associated Press. Less detailed records were available from a National Archives facility in Philadelphia.

According to the documents, Biden, 65, received several deferments while he was an undergraduate at the University of Delaware and later as a law student at Syracuse University. A month after a physical exam in April 1968, Biden received a Selective Service classification of 1-Y, meaning he was available for service only in the event of national emergency.

"As a result of a physical exam on April 5, 1968, Joe Biden was classified 1-Y and disqualified from service because of asthma as a teenager," said David Wade, a campaign spokesman.

In "Promises to Keep," a memoir that was published last year, Biden never mentions his asthma, recounting an active childhood, work as a lifeguard and football exploits in high school.

IOW, Biden lied then, lied again in 'his' memoir', and lies now through his spox.

Anytime some liberal filth refers to President Trump as “bonespurs,” remind them of this.

Worthless bastard. My draft lottery number was 9 so I went.

I didn’t object to deferments as long as those deferred did not badmouth those of us in Vietnam.

Threatening voters who disagree with him seems to be the limit of Biden’s combat experience.

I was classified as 1-Y in 1967 following a pre-induction physical.

Cheney got his because he was in school, and the last one because he had reached a certain age. hiden got his for “asthma.”

hanoi john got 5 for school and then went, hat in hand, to his draft board and BEGGED for a 6th one, which they turned down so, he then joined the navy which was considered the safest service in ‘nam.

I discovered Free Republic through the SBVT website. Good times at the anti-Kerry rally in DC (2004).

You guys did a great service in exposing John Fraud Kerry. John O’Neil is another hero who deserves the Medal of Freedom. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

As I mentioned earlier, they’re running Biden ads in MARYLAND, of all insane places, since we’re almost always a Dem Gimme state.

The one that ran this morning trotted out his entire dead family, with him sounding near to tears.

If *only* he’d had Obamacare, they would have lived...but evil Trump wants us all to die.

I was shocked that he’d whore his dead family like that.

I received 4 draft deferrals. I was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry in 1969 and was wounded in August, 1971 while commanding a rifle company in Vietnam. My XO was wounded twice before I pulled him out of the field. My ambition was to serve as a career Army officer, which I did. My XO wanted to go to law school which he did after he left Vietnam. He joined ROTC in order to get draft deferrals and to serve as an officer, an advantage when applying to law school.

Everyone had their own strategy that suited themselves. I don’t criticize their decisions except for those who went to Canada and people like John Kerry who served, but was always a one hundred percent phony who did everything to advance his political future career. He was the Antifa of my day.
