A baton, wielded by someone who knows how to use is, can be an effective low-category force weapon.

You never heard of Pleaseful Officers?
To: Fido969
But not a credible deterrent to someone with a knife who knows how to use it. Normally, he would have to show that he knows how to use it by using it. Fortunately, the knife wielder was a wuss.

My favorite street weapon is a kashi-no-bo, basically a joint of bamboo about as long as your hand. It can be a deadly defensive weapon, but useless as a deterrent.

This is really odd. Normally reporters love to make themselves into a part of a story.

Maranie R. Staab wanted to better understand the refugee community in Syracuse and get to know people who resettled in the city through her photography. From Sept. 14 to Oct. 26, people can get a glimpse into the lives of the Northside refugee community through Staabs ArtRage Gallery exhibition, RECREATING HOME: Photographs of the Refugee Experience. Staab is currently a second-year graduate student in the multimedia, photography and design program in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. . .In the last few years, Staab has worked in the Middle East and Africa, specifically with displaced populations, she said. . .Last summer Staab moved to Syracuse to start in the graduate program at Newhouse and immediately reached out to organizations that work with refugees. One of the organizations she worked with is Hopeprint, a community advocacy group that aims to unify diverse communities, said Nicole Watts, founder and executive director of the organization. . .In the last 15 years, nearly 15,000 refugees have settled in Syracuse, according to ArtRages website. :

Maranie is a Pittsburgh-based, independent photographer and journalist working to document human rights and social justice issues, displacement and the periphery of conflict -- how violence and war affects individuals and societies. Her work focuses on people and especially those in marginalized parts of society whether domestically or abroad. She photographs with the aspiration to dispel misconceptions, to underline our common humanity, and to further understanding of worlds outside our own. She is motivated by the conviction that still images can have the power to inform, inspire, change the way we think and even move people to act. To date, her work has taken her throughout Eastern and Western Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. . .:

Watched the WHEC Live feed two nights ago. They were in the thick of it. It was very satisfying watching the BLMers getting hit with pepper balls and seeing them hacking, gagging and scratching their eyes out from the tear gas.

Peaceful stabbing attempt?
Like a rain storm being dry weather if you manage to run fast, dodging between the rain drops.

The movement doesnt want anyone taking pictures of the riots now, because thats how the feds are nabbing them. Too little, too late. So they will only allow people who do not own cell phones to be around. That's about twenty people (I only have a Tracfone minute phone) to be there. Sparse.
