California blackouts could hit up to 3 million as grid managers plead for conservation

Blackouts could hit as many as 3 million California homes and business Sunday evening as an epic heat wave smothers the West, the manager of the state’s electricity grid said.

It would be one of the largest blackouts in California history, if not the largest.

After narrowly avoiding blackouts Saturday night, the Independent System Operator, which runs the grid, said it was facing a shortfall of 4,000 megawatts unless Californians comply with urgent pleas for conservation.

Yet another admission that windmills and solar panels are a monumental failure.

Rebuild the hydro-electric dams!

The one thing they’d never think to do is ADD MORE CAPACITY because that wouldn’t be Green. How I hate these people.

I guarantee you the political class, the tech millionaires, and the illegal aliens are all cool as a cucumber. I just feel bad for regular homeowners.

Well, I'm doing my part to fight this 'epic heat wave' in California. I have the air conditioners turned to maximum, and all the windows open. That should help drive the temperature down...

Joking aside, our democrat 'leadership' have really poisoned this state by taking Natural Gas and Nuclear powered facilities off line.
The similar suicidal mindset applies to water resource management - where we haven't built a new reservoir in this State in over 40 years.
Our elected Dem Leaders hate the people of California.

So why aren't Negawatts (see Amory B. Lovins), solar and wind doing their fair share?

5,000 megawatts? 5 GIGAWATTS? That's five nuclear plants which just happens to equal the number of nuclear plants shut down in California. Is that a coincidence or what?

This is the kind of "equality" that Socialism provides. Everyone is equally miserable.

Except for the ruling class. They are more equal than the rest of us.

The Hollyweird crowd needs to turn off the electricity in their homes to set a good example.

No more virtue signaling, time for actual virtue!

Another thing to do would be clear out the highly inflammable biomass before it regularly, and inevitably, catches fire and use it for timber products, burning the waste in generators. Since everybody, including the wildlife, would win, the CA socialists and tree huggers would never allow such a solution.

The Cuomo legacy in New York is the shutdown of nuclear power and no new oil or gas pipelines. Indian Point nuclear power plant is being dismantled. Next summer in the NY metropolitan area will feature electricity shortages, brownouts and blackouts. These Democrat lunatics wish to punish America with their bizarre , irrational green new deal. People who elect them suffer.

What businesses? Everything's closed. Including government offices. I'll bet those thermostats are kept at 72 degrees around the clock, though.

Epic heat wave?

It’s totally normal.

They’re incompetent and need to blame outside forces.
