At least 7,000 health workers around the world have died as a result of contracting the coronavirus, according to analysis published by Amnesty International.
The human rights group said at least 1,320 health workers were confirmed to have died as a result of Covid-19 in Mexico alone, the highest known figure for any country worldwide. Health worker fatalities related to the virus were also high in the U.S. (1,077) and Brazil (634), Amnesty International said.
Many months into the pandemic, health workers are still dying at horrific rates in countries such as Mexico, Brazil and the USA, while the rapid spread of infections in South Africa and India show the need for all states to take action, Steve Cockburn, head of economic and social justice at Amnesty International, said in a statement.

Amnesty International needs to come out for HCQ choice for the world
Died from virus or by car accident and testing with the virus
Im a recently retired physician. At an unnamed hospital in an unknown galaxy (HIPAA concerns) I am aware of maybe 30 of the staff contracting COVID, mostly right at the beginning when no mitigating maneuvers were occurring.
Im aware of just one death. I knew her from incidental contact, and it spooked me, Ill be honest.
Thats not statistically a lot, though. I bet the number of nurses dying of cancer in that time period was higher.
And please (dumbasses) dont turn this into a rant about mitigating maneuvers. Not in the mood for it today.
Amnesty International??? Pass...
There are 18 million health care workers in the United states, and 330 million people total.
The death rate in the United states overall is 166,000, and for health workers, it is about 1077.
So, the change of death for the “average” person in the United States is 0.05%.
The chance of death for a “health care worker” is 0.006%
A health care worker has about 1/10th the chance of dying from COVID as the average american.
