On Wednesdays Hugh Hewitt Show, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) stated that Washington, D.C.s home rule should be taken away if the city cant keep calm and peace in the streets.
Host Hugh Hewitt asked, Should home rule be taken away from D.C. and returned to federal control if they cant provide protection on the streets of the capital, senator?
Paul responded, Yes. D.C. is a unique thing set up by the Constitution, taken from the states. Its not a state. It doesnt have states rights. And a lot of the decisions are made by Congress. But I think really, if you cant have calm or peace in your streets, that has to happen.

Democrat rule has made DC a chit-hole. Embezzlers prevail.
Best do it before the September 17 Occupy the White House starts.
It would then have to be moved again after a period of time because the new DC would swampify the new area.
Home rule should have been rescinded after Marion Barry.
I would guess that Rand Paul knows of this plan. It will be a horrid mob of all the RAT terrorists.
I pray the SS plans ahead and gets downright serious with that mob.
I agree.
DC has the most one percenters. Move out as many departments as possible to the have- not areas to bring up their economies. Sound socialist? Heh heh.
Don’t we need to take the House for Congress to pass this?
Great idea. Vermillion SD is a college town and could definitely use the year round financial input.
The problem with moving the capitol is what does D.C. with its 99% Democratic voters become, another state? Maybe it can go back to Maryland, which is already polluted, but thats a mean thing to do to some of the more conservative parts of the state.
Congress is empowered to legislate for the District “in all cases whatsoever”.
That phrase had profound meaning for the Founders, taken as it was from the Declaratory Act (1766) declaring Parliament superior to Colonial Legislatures and any acts by them contrary to the will of Parliament or the King to be void.
The pretend DC “government” should be dismissed today.
Office of the President=wherever he/she goes.
Dept of Agriculture (USDA) moves to Stuttgart, AR (rice and soybeans hunting) Rogers, AR (chicken), and Lubbock, TX (beef)
Commerce Dept: Omaha, NE
DoD: Rename Dept. of War and move to Northcom in CO.
Dept. of Education: ELIMINATE Dept. of Energy: ELIMINATE (Move NNSA/OST to USMS or DoD) Health and Human Services: ELIMINATE Homeland Security: Eliminate
Dept of Interior: Move to Couer D'Alane, ID Dept of Justice: Downsize 80%, get rid of ATF, move their arson guys to USMS, Make FBI a top notch scientific lab after "purity test" for no politics
Dept of Labor: Move to rust belt or eliminate
Dept of State: Reduce 90%. Each Embassy should have an ambassador and family, small support staff (cook/maids/landscape) and military intelligence advisors/protectors (as needed.
US Treasury Move back to New Orleans, or Carson City.....old minting presses.
Veteran Affairs: Move to Department of DoD and place them under military command so bureaucrats can be eradicated
EPA? Eliminate
Bottom line, MOVE federal agencies to locations that are most detrimental to their existence.
Ever wonder why our government is slow, corrupt, and tone deaf? Most agencies are in DC. Who works in DC? Swamp dwellers and lazy parasites.
Yes. But I can dream can't I?
In the meanwhile DC should lose self rule. They have repeatedly proved they are incapable of governing themselves effectively.
If US Senators like Rand Paul cant be safe in DC and are put under threat of getting viciously assaulted or killed after leaving the White House, who is safe in this city?
Republicans should have done this when Trump was elected nd they controlled both the House and the Senate. Thanks to that loser Paul Ryan and McTurtle nothing good happened.
I agree with all that.
Trump has made a start moving some departments out of DC, but there is a heck of a lot more to do.
Does Rand Paul or Hugh Hewitt read FR? We have had at least two threads in the last few days suggesting repeal of the law giving DC the authority to vote for a mayor and city council, one thread mentioning Rand Paul by name.
Seems like a terrible think to do to South Dakota.
Thank you for sharing that. Does this also give them “diplomatic Immunity” from the laws they force on the union of states since they are not a state of that union?
I heard NYC has vacancies.
