Since they were first implemented in March and April, mandatory lockdown orders and nationwide quarantines have had little to no effect in curbing the spread of COVID-19 and in fact “correlated with a greater spread of the virus,” according to an analysis in the Wall Street Journal.
The research: On top of straining the economy and leading to long-term health consequences, lockdowns have also proven to be “a large policy error,” claims Donald L. Luskin, the Chief Investment Officer for Trend Macrolytics, a consulting firm that focuses on macroeconomic analysis which conducted the new research into the impact of lockdowns.
Luskin outlined the findings in a new op-ed for the Wall Street Journal published Tuesday.
The methodology: Luskin’s firm “tallied the cumulative number of reported cases of Covid-19 in each state and the District of Columbia as a percentage of population, based on data from state and local health departments aggregated by the COVID Tracking Project,” he wrote.
“We then compared that with the timing and intensity of the lockdown in each jurisdiction. That is measured not by the mandates put in place by government officials, but rather by observing what people in each jurisdiction actually did, along with their baseline behavior before the lockdowns. This is captured in highly detailed anonymized cellphone tracking data provided by Google and others and tabulated by the University of Maryland’s Transportation Institute into a ‘Social Distancing Index,'” he explained.

Herd immunity is nature's way of dealing with epidemics. A lockdown can be imposed early on and it can look great - until the lockdown is lifted, even just partially. Then the natural process begins. Unhappily some will get very sick and some will die. Many will acquire the disease and hardly be affected. They will build up antibodies to the disease and these antibodies are likely spread in the same manner that the diseased pathogens are spread - by casual contact. This process occurs every year with the annual flu and the common cold.
Of course the more virile the infective pathogen is the worse the consequences for those who are vulnerable. The worst case scenario would be Ebola or bubonic plague. The least threat would be something like a stomach virus or common cold.
Prez Trump is being criticized for mishandling the coronavirus epidemic; Prez Trump is not a doctor! He can only be criticized for following flawed medical advice. Did he receive poor medical advice? I believe so and I suspect it was Doctor Fauci - for whatever reason.

It would have been ideal if a cure or prophylactic preventative had been available at the time of the lockdown - AND IT WAS! --- hydroxychloroquine. Notice how hard the enemy has fought that remedy - which goes some little ways to support what I am saying here. The blue political constituencies are fighting to extend the lockdowns in their jurisdictions indefinitely. It is NOT medicine, it is POLITICAL WARFARE.
In jurisdictions that are opening up herd immunity is progressing, and all factors being equal they should start experiencing infective decline by election time... certainly by the end of the year. Leaders of locked down jurisdictions claim they are waiting for a vaccine or a cure. They are likely waiting for an ice cream truck in the middle of the desert. Viruses mutate too wildly to craft effective permanent vaccines generally and the only viral cure I can think of is polio; coronavirus has an established history of mutations - vaccine cures are most unlikely. There are some promising 'treatments' for the virus; clinical trials and extensive animal and human testing are likely to take quite some time.
Like it or not, herd immunity with disciplined public hygiene is probably the best path to trust for now.

I believe the Deep State/Dems shot themselves in the foot by faking positive test results, and exaggerating Covid-19 deaths and stuffing Covid-19 patients into nursing homes to drive up actual deaths in order to “justify” lockdown. Doing so, often to prevent opening up (ending lockdown) pushed their numbers up so now it looks like lockdown increased disease spread.
There’s been no lockdown in my very conservative area the whole time, but the restaurant parking lots have been empty for months anyway. There’s a commercial gym, but I haven’t seen more than two cars in that lot. Most of the time, that’s been empty, too. Everyone wears masks in stores, post offices, etc. But there’s no mandate. Other than that, all business is as busy as usual. Everyone is polite and happy.

No doubt really... and now these 'blue' jurisdictions are hurting big time with closed businesses and population fleeing in droves. They are losing boxcars full of tax revenues and urging that hate-mongering crone Pelosi to hold out against Trump and 'pubbies for a huge bailout to save their vapid butts.
Alarmingly they are also likely counting on massive voter fraud in order to seize power and take over the govt. We are dangerously flirting with civil war. We can start with prayer!
