A distinct possibility - that was a problem here in TX during Beta O'Dork's senate run. Friend of mine was up a 4:30am just getting his day started, was taking a swig of coffee while looking out his kitchen window and saw movement outside. Moved to a larger window for a better look and there were two guys, one on each side of the street planting Beto signs in every yard as fast as they could go. Problem was there were no Beto supporters in that neighborhood and off the signs went.

Exactly my thought when I read the article. Even here in legendarily leftist Minnesota, once you get out of the Twin Sh*tties, the ratio of Trump to Biden signs is easily 30 to 1. And that’s a conservative estimate (no pun intended).
