The US manufacturing industry accelerated its growth through August as factories reopened and supply chains recovered.
The Institute for Supply Management's purchasing managers' index gained to 56 last month from 54.2, according to a Tuesday report. The expansion is the PMI's fastest in nearly two years.
Economists surveyed by Bloomberg expected a reading of 54.8.
The firm's New Orders Index climbed to 67.6 from 61.5, its highest point in more than 16 years.

Manufacturing jobs coming back after all!
I haul freight for FedEx and am so busy I’m working 12 hour days.
That means nothing. The freight you haul could all be made in China or Mexico.
We should all be fighting this like our lives and our children's future depends on it. Because it does.
“...V Shaped Recovery...”

I think it will be more like a Y or maybe even a W.
Raining on parade I see?
He could be hauling all Made in the USA products. What are the chances of that?
Imagine what things would look like if the blue states would end their lockdown.
It’s easy enough, Barry. Just blame him for driving the economy, that you are author of, into a ditch. Then if a recovery starts, unleash Burn Loot Murder to wreak havoc in blue states and cities. Except you can’t do that in the red states, because the MFers have guns and sh!t and they will shoot, so their economy will continue to recover. Curse you, second amendment.
Thanks for sharing that.
I work in the Oil and Gas industry, we manufacture machined parts and stud bolts/nuts.
Our CNCs are running 24 hours a day, our threading machines are barely running 8 hours a day.
There has been a very slight increase in orders the past two weeks after a 5 month decrease.
We will see if the increase holds or if its just people replenishing base inventories.
Bring on the V, I have some folks I need to rehire.
The Oil and Gas industry is kind of a notoriously boom/bust special case - currently experiencing bust pricing.
I am afraid that Global demand will need to pick up next year, to really revive the boom, but US demand is growing solidly.
Never know what is going to happen Internationally.
Covid in decline, vaccine ready in October, economy rallying back, strong stock market - these issues go to Trump.
Dems are burning cities and property and threatening people as Trump stands strong for Law and Order - issue goes to Trump.
Biden mumbles and sounds confused in 3 debates, issue goes to Trump.
FedEx tracking just changed my delivery date from this Friday to a week from Friday!
The order was placed with the shipper on 8/29. I received a shipping notification from the shipper on 8/31. Now FedEx says my package will be delivered on 9/11 after first saying that it would be delivered 9/4.
Thats slower than the USPS and maybe even slower than the old Pony Express!
Last time, my shipment arrived at my local FedEx depot and sat on the trailer for a week before it was put on a delivery truck. It only moved from there after I called and complained.
Then it was delivered in a rental truck, two weeks late!
This is very frustrating. Do you have any insight here?
My insider at FedEx says it is like after Thanksgiving for them every day for the past 5 months. They never had this volume at these consistencies ever.
The FedEx warehouse near me raised the starting wage from $14.14 and hour to %16.50 an hour, they have a hard time getting people cause in some cases people were making more on unemployment
Im going to ask my shippers to change to UPS. FedEx has become very unreliable.
If they want to keep their business, maybe FedEx needs to double their starting wage!
So sorry. If it's Freight then I hope you'll be happy with UPS. I have a Sherman Williams customer who HATES UPS Freight but the company forced it on him.
I make almost as much as UPS Freight and there is NO UNION. I'm happy.
Sure it does. You know nothing of the business.
The freight I haul I pickup and deliver to local business. Manufacturing is through the roof. Help Wanted signs decorate the front of buildings.
Now, I did deliver 5000 pounds of fireworks today to a local dealer. Of course, all from China. I asked him why now? Why September?
He said everyone is out of fireworks all up and down the East Coast.
Guess why?
Too funny. I just noticed you're a 98CRU too. Too funny. I may know you :)
