I live in the state of roving blackouts. Electricity bills
are horrendous. I have a family member who had solar
panels installed on his rough, and two Tesla Power banks
on the side of their home.
They pay no more now than they did before they installed the
system. In five more years, their whole set-up will be paid
off, and they will be able to sell power back to the grid
without any costs each month.

California? That means you also get significant sun just about every day. This fellow lives here in Pittsburgh. I think only Seattle clocks less annual hours of sunshine than we do. It's a pure virtue signal.

Only possible with government intervention in the form of subsidies and mandated above- market rates for power sold back to the grid. Eliminate those and it wouldn't be viable.
