To address potential Medicare program integrity risks, effective with admissions occurring on or after September 1, 2020, claims eligible for the 20 percent increase in the MS-DRG weighting factor will also be required to have a positive COVID-19 laboratory test documented in the patient’s medical record. Positive tests must be demonstrated using only the results of viral testing (i.e., molecular or antigen), consistent with CDC guidelines. The test may be performed either during the hospital admission or prior to the hospital admission. For this purpose, a viral test performed within 14 days of the hospital admission, including a test performed by an entity other than the hospital, can be manually entered into the patient’s medical record to satisfy this documentation requirement. For example, a copy of a positive COVID-19 test result that was obtained a week before the admission from a local government- run testing center can be added to the patient’s medical record. In the rare circumstance where a viral test was performed more than 14 days prior to the hospital admission, CMS will consider whether there are complex medical factors in addition to that test result for purposes of this documentation requirement. The Pricer will continue to apply an adjustment factor to increase the MS-DRG relative weight that would otherwise be applied by 20 percent when determining IPPS operating payments for discharges that report the ICD‑10‑CM diagnosis code U07.1 (COVID-19). CMS may conduct post-payment medical review to confirm the presence of a positive COVID-19 laboratory test and, if no such test is contained in the medical record, the additional payment resulting from the 20 percent increase in the MS-DRG relative weight will be recouped.

I was at the doctors yesterday. The nurse made a comment about how masks will be here for the foreseeable future. I told her I hated that masks and that it was foolish for everyone to wear masks in a county with only 12 active cases. She seemed unaware that the numbers were so low. I take it that most people are and that contributes to the panic.
Unfortunately, so many of even “us” here are quite happy to believe what Big Media excretes, especially if it doesn’t seem DIRECTLY related to politics.

Simple solution to the pandemic,,,,Make HCQ and Azithromycin OTC drugs so anyone who develops a cough and/or fever can go the nearest drug store and self medicate with the drugs along with Zinc Sulfate with correct dosage within 48 hours of symptoms and pandemic over.,,,,,instead of waiting a few days to get tested and 5 days for the results,,,,if over 60 years of age,,,,you’re dead.
will they infect some to keep the cash flow. I know two friends. no symptoms took the tests tested positive and then got sick. Is the no symptom scam an excuse for poorly administered/ sloppy testing?
Not sure why you keep cutting and pasting the same thing. Regardless of the use of HCQ or not, being over 60 or even over 80 does not mean you die from COVID. By now most doctors know how to handle COVID and the best approach is to go to the doctor and let them handle it.

...... But now we’re learning the overwhelming majority of those who have tested positive for the coronavirus should really have been found negative after all.
***According to (The New York Times), potentially 90 percent of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 have such insignificant amounts of the virus present in their bodies that such individuals do not need to isolate nor are they candidates for contact tracing.***
Hmmm, weird! Because I’m sure I’ve seen posts by him/her/it daily . . . Oh well, no big. I do wish there was some kind of “block spam” function on FR, where it doesn’t really do anything to the poster, but people clicking that button wouldn’t even see his/her/its posts. Maybe someday?
