OK Folks, I will not overestimate the dangers of Covid-19 for the general population. However, let us NOT UNDERESTIMATE the dangers of this disease to those HUGE number of people in the USA who have serious pre-existing conditions and/or are elderly.

Having seen friends ( plural ) die because of co-morbidities AND catching Covid-19, I cannot help but say to myself — well, yes, they will eventually die of their condition, but I cannot help but wonder HOW MANY MORE YEARS they would have lived had there been no Coronavirus ... Even a year or two is precious.

Not for long.

There is a positive lesson we can take from the virus: generally speaking, Americans are unhealthy. Mostly related to obesity and lack of exercise. We have been sold on the notion that an array of orange containers with white lids is a substitute for healthy living. People need to take better care of themselves.

Nobody I know had Covid and now we know it was just a bad flu. The bad flu has destroyed thousands of lives economically and prevented people with severe medical problems to get treatment. All of this to gain power.

Meanwhile, I have known of 1 person (husband’s subordinate) with a very serious cystic fibrosis disease catch this virus thanks to having a “roommate” who caught it. He has basically quit as there is little hope for him; he needs a lung transplant. But last year they barely saved him when his lung collapsed.

I also have my nephew who caught it, had nothing much more than a cold. His MIL caught it from him, had some serious vomiting, but despite being 65, she got over it in a week.

Never mind the opinion of my doctor uncle and nurse aunt, who see hardly any cases to justify their local hospital shutting off a whole floor, and mysteriously had zero flu cases or deaths in that whole time.

That’s my anecdotal evidence. And never mind my personal nightmares worrying if I could get my mom and now myself adequate medical attention because everyone is so damn hung up on this.

Then please tell them to isolate themselves as the rest of us get back to work.

No one should be stuck not working because of your friends.

I had a close family member die from flu complications (2018).
The flu is serious. Little children get the flu and get very very sick.
Individual schools have had to close for a day or two because of the flu (not enough teachers).
No one is considered asymptomatic for flu. No one wears a mask. Healthy people are not quarantined.

Covid is nothing more than politics on steroids.

I take your point, but this report tells us that we have been targeting the wrong population and we have done it for political reasons. We have shut down our economy, throwing millions out of their jobs, we have shutdown almost every sector of our society, including our health care system where the shutdown scared off most of the patients. We shut down our education system causing very serious consequences to young people who are the least persons at risk. The travel and restaurant industries may never recover. Had we focused on the elderly population cohort (my cohort), all of these would have been affected, but they would not have been destroyed.

We did it because those in charge of our disease industry hate Trump and were willing to lie and deceive in order to blame the entire thing on him. It worked. Lying always works in the short term. Are we doing to tolerate the continuance of the lies, now that we know the truth? Many will because they want to believe the lies. For the rest of us, we need to resist and loudly.

As I wrote elsewhere, let's be clear: The CDC data show (what we've all known for some time) that the vast majority (94% to be precise) of people who have COVID19 as cause of death on their death certificate, had other comorbidities. Or, clinically, "For 6% of the deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death."

This is not uncommon - the following is a list of comorbidities with heart failure: coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, atrial fibrillation, stroke/transient ischemic attack (TIA), valvular heart disease, myocardial infarction, body mass index, diabetes mellitus, serum creatinine, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sleep apnea, depression, anemia, and thyroid disease. Ain't that a kick in the head.

All that being said, this IS a nasty virus. I have saved this post from Laz of an excellent article, documenting how this virus attacks the body at multiple points. This idiosyncratic attack pattern, in part, begets an equally fractured citizenry. Indeed, I know people who've had the bug without much of a problem, and of people who struggled terribly. That, in part, spawns a fleet of Flubros (the former) and paranoids (the latter) who don't see eye-to-eye.

It is almost like it was engineered to be that way.

I'm not doubting the politicization of this pandemic or data chicanery or any of that. But this non-admission admission that sick people are more likely to die of this virus than healthy people is being blown out of proportion. This article and the GP article that announced this non-story is not only poorly-written but makes our side look like idiots.

Having pre-existing conditions and catching a virus or germ of any kind can be deadly. This has always been the case

I’m elderly but have the best immune system in the world thanks to taking megadoses ( one gram) of vitamin C and other supplements every morning for the last 40 years. I saw my doc a few weeks back and thanked him for literally writing prescription forms for 8 supplements per day. This makes them deductible.

All docs could, but they won’t. Pharmaceutical companies fund med schools And BigPharma companies are increasingly owned by the Chinese.

Immune system boosters: Liposomal Vitamin C, D3, A, Zinc picolinate, iodine)

My friend, who just retired as a pharmaceutical company exec who actually took those docs on free vacations to Hawaii is on the same page. She takes everything I do and suggested Astaxanthin too.
