Please stop that! The problem with NYC is that it is actually impossible to vote for anybody except Democrats there. Sometimes there isnt even a GOP candidate on the ballot. Voter turn out is very low because nobody likes the fact that there are no choices, and the current pack of loonies was elected by a very tiny percentage of the people in New York.
I grew up on the Upper West Side and lived there off and on for a number of years and yes, the liberal presence is pretty overwhelming. But there are a lot of people who probably would vote GOP, even quietly, except that theres simply no possibility in New York City. The problem is that the party has let itself be marginalized and offers nothing to give the voters the courage to get out and vote.
Primaries are closed. Only registered democrats can vote in democratic primaries.
I was being flippant. I know there are many good conservatives in NY, but certainly when it comes to NYC, maggots constitute a substantial majority. No offense to good conservative New Yorkers intended.
I believe that this unspoken threat is what kept Mike Ditka from running for Senate in Chicago. If he had run, we would probably have been spared the Obama years.
Just like Coastal CA where I live.
