Musk demoed the companys brain-computer interface technology on Friday in live pigs.
He described it as like a Fitbit in your skull.
Musk said the Neuralink can help fight blindness, memory loss, insomnia, and other medical conditions.
lon Musks brain-machine interface company, Neuralink, conducted a live demo of its technology on Friday, showing a coin-sized device without wires.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO brought along three pigs, who had varying levels of interest in cooperating. Eventually, the audience was shown real-time neural signals from one of the pigs, which Musk named Gertrude. According to Musk, Gertrude has had the implant for about two months.
The start-up, which launched in 2016 and is funded primarily by Musk, said it is designing tiny flexible threads that are 10 times thinner than a human hair with the goal of treating brain injuries and trauma, along with someday enabling symbiosis between humans and artificial intelligence. The design has been tested on at least 19 different animals with robots with around an 87% success rate, according to the ventures presentation last year.
Musk described it on Friday as like a Fitbit in your skull.

Ha ha charade you are.
All hail Arnold.
Ping!
Another 180 from the South African. From AI is the biggest threat to humanity to “take the brain chip.”
He has no principles and is a front for other forces.
The Borg.
Resistance is futile.
Creepy stuff... Humans ... Are not God.
Musk said AI is the greatest threat to humanity but is inevitable and the only way to survive is for humans to merge with machines early in the game
(nully desperately trying to avoid saying some pigs oink, some just say oi!)
BIDEN!
The benefits are something out of sci-fi, ending things like blindness or paralysis, potentially even things like Alzheimer's or Schizophrenia. Not to mention the more mundane (like surfing the internet in your head during a boring meeting) or virtual worlds you could literally log your conscience mind into. Eventually you might even be able to download your memories into a computer. Imagine what it would be like to not read what your great-grandfather thought about a certain historical event, but actually go into his memories and relive the event through his eyes yourself!
But of course this comes with many downsides. Countries like North Korea and China, could monitor the very thoughts of the population and imprison people based on simply a negative thought about the regime. Perhaps even use the device to for mind control and piping propaganda directly into your head. If hackers broke into your neuralink they could literally steal everything about you from passwords to private information. And would courts be able to subpoena your thoughts?
Personally I think the cat is out of the bag, if not Elon Musk then some scientist in China will create it. I just hope people are considering the good and the bad before adopting this technology.
Ya suppose Biden will have a special implant for the debates?
Great, a hackable human brain
If you put a computer in your brain eventually someone will figure out how to invade that computer and take control of it and/or steal information from it.
I think the CIA can already ‘pipe thoughts into your head’ if they want to. Or so I’ve been hearing on talk radio programs like
Coast to Coast.
Not sure, but after all....he is a pig.

We have had that technology for thousands of years.
It is called “marriage.”
;)
First thing I thought when I saw this story -
Well if it could help me walk again after 40 years, I might just try it.
All the billionaires are fronts for the power sources that want to control humanity.
Phhhhht! The deep state already has this technology, and its a wireless setup.
Duh!
Even if implemented, there is no connection between brain electrical activity (recorded by Musk’s devices, whatever they may be) and the nature of a human thought. Who can decipher if I like Biden or Trump based on my electroencephalogram? No one knows, to this day, what is a molecular (or any other physical phenomena) involved in the thought process or forming the basis of human memory. If you do, please, let me know...
