Power outages, fires, water shortages, rising taxes, crumbling and congested highways, dismal schools, lawlessness
It is now August in California.
So we can expect the following from our postmodern state government. There are the now-normal raging wildfires in the coastal and Sierra foothills. And they will be greeted as if they are not characteristic threats of 500 years of settled history, but leveraged as proof of global warming as well as the states abject inability to put them out.
When the inept state cant extinguish them as it has in the past, it suggests that its more natural to let them burn. Jerry Browns team told us that the droughts toll millions of dead trees and tens of millions of acres of parched grass and calcified shrubs on hillsides provided a natural source of food and shelter for bugs and birds and thus need not be grazed or thinned or harvested. And so the wages of drought could be in a sense good for an ecosystem that otherwise proved to be green napalm for the people of foothill communities.
We can expect power outages, because we dont believe in releasing clean heat to make energy. Note that we do not mind people heating up in their 108-degree apartments without power. The planet is always more important than the non-privileged people who inhabit it.

The proper response is to block all exits from CA to prevent the rabid dogs from Californicating the rest of America. We need to build an under ground railway to get the few good ones out.
At the end, VDH lists all the things that need to happen to the Reds in charge for things to change.
Then he says, When all that happens, California will begin to change.
In other words never.
PING!
Heck, a few years back you could legally open carry firearms. And have adjustable stocks, and more than 10 rounds, ...
But you couldn’t smoke weed. Progress, Soma. ;-)
Hard to believe that not long ago this was a staunchly republican state where Reagan got elected governor twice!
Pennsylvania ditched its motorcycle helmet law within the past 16 years and you can still open carry.
But you can’t get a drink unless it is with a meal and you wear a mask as you enter and leave.

It’s called “Voting Democrat”.
Yeah, it’s a hard one to figure out. Apparently. If one is a Democrat.
Just saying.
We need a state electoral college so we arent run rough shod by the lefty cities.
Easily enough done. Each Congressional district gets one Elector. District votes Republican, one Republican Electoral vote. Winner statewide gets the Remaining two Electoral votes.
You think the Dems in legislature will go for that?
You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.
In 2024, the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant is shutting down, permanently.
That’s 2200 megawatts of generation being taken off line, for good.
Our recent rolling blackouts were due to 1300 megawatts of generation being off line for maintenance.
Newsom and his green weenies are going to rely on intermittent, weather-dependent generating technologies to fill the gap.
We are going to have some dark, hot nights on a regular basis, starting in just a couple of years.
[In 2024, the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant is shutting down, permanently.]
Hooboy.
Good think Barack Hussein Obama funded Solyndra during his reign.
Except...
All those red and pink counties are sparsely populated, while the darkest blues are heavily populated.
NO ONE lives in the red counties. All the population is in the BLUE counties. Why is that so hard for you to understand? Clinton won California by 30 points!
And your map is wrong to boot! Your map shows San Bernardino County going to Trump and it went to Clinton instead...bigly.
San Bernardino had over 650,000 votes cast which went to Hillary by a large margin and the county north of it was won by Trump - now hold on - with a grand total of 8,000 votes cast in Inyo.
Trump won the counties where NO ONE lives. Trump won ONE county with over 100,000 votes.
We all know that millions populate Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego counties, etc which is where actual human beings live in considerable numbers.
Please stop trying to fool me by pulling out the red/blue maps pretending that conservatives have any meaningful presence in California, because on a statewide level, they do not.
Please understand those patches of red contain VERY FEW voters, so please don't try to fool me again.
I was born in Palo Alto (now stanford) on the 3rd floor
of the original hospital two years after my wife was born
on the same floor. The education system was among the best in the country. I now live near Santa Cruz which began failure in 1962 thanks to UCSC. Before then it was a great town. The problem seems to be the proximity of salt water.
Hard to believe Ron Reagan raised many of us.
If the same 30 point Hillary margin occurred in Oklahoma, Idaho or Utah, then you may have something as far as some conspiracy deep state bogey man changing a vote, but you can't convince me that California's 2016 vote is fraudulent.
I dont offend easily, so don’t worry about that. I get your point and I mostly agree with your analysis. My point is that everyone just discounts California out of hand and thinks there are no real conservatives left. There are many left. Maybe not enough to swing the state back to the red, but enough to make a difference if we had not been disenfranchised by voter fraud. Oh, and voter fraud robbed Orange county of seven or so Republican seats last cycle.
Ya mean the state where Ronald Reagan was governor not too many years ago? Now they have extreme radical leftist in charge like Newsom, Pelosi etc, running the state? How does that work? Are we to believe millions of leftist from other states magically went to CA and turned it blue in just a couple of short decades?
Yes, there were seven House seats that were stolen by the democrats in 2018. However, ballot harvesting is legal. It shouldn't be legal, but it is. Those seven seats were won by republicans on election day and I believe California allows 17 days to gather votes after election day. So what did republicans do? Nothing. They sat by and watched democrats gather legal votes to change the election result. I hope they learned their lesson and will also participate in ballot harvesting in November. They will need to.
Also, the reason why everyone discounts California out of hand is because of such huge lopsided losses by republicans. Trump lost by 30 points - California is not a battleground state. I mean, Florida, NC, GA and other states get the attention because the elections are close and there are persuadables in those states that make it worthwhile to campaign in and spend ad bucks - but that is not the case in California.
Trump could spend everyday in California and campaign in every county and spend $100 million in ads in the state and Trump would still lose. That is why California is dismissed out of hand.
When was the last time a republican won a statewide race? There are 8 constitutional offices in California - 8 - and democrats won every single race. Out of 51 House seats, republicans have only 7 or 8 of them. Only 1 out of 4 voters are registered republicans. Independent has more registered voters than republicans.
There are only 18 republicans in an 80 seat State Assembly and I think 11 seats out of 40 in the state senate. All these reasons are why republicans are dismissed out of hand. It is not a competitive state.
That doesn't mean that a fluke can happen from time to time, such as in 2006 when Arnold won the recall election.
So, having written all that, could this be one of those fluke years? Well, with all the gig workers being crushed and hurt by forcing those that hire them to classify them as employees and other things, this could be a perfect storm, but if it is, it will be a one off.
The smoking of weed seems to have approximated the crashing. Same with Colorado, and probably a lot of states.
The last chapter has not been written on Marijuana.
Nah...California is lost forever, much like New York and Virginia. They don’t need to be fraudulent there - they can instead focus on states like Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania where the margins are much tighter.
